First, I'm well aware that Coteaz is one of the best HQs for his points.
However! I'm really bothered by the fact that I have to use him to unlock henchmen as troops! I think this should be something unlocked by taking any inquisitor.
Since Coteaz is so strong, I see no reason why I shouldn't be allowed to take henchmen troops without him! I really dislike using named HQs!
What do you think? Is there any reason that I should *have* to use Coteaz to unlock henchman troops if I'd rather use another inquisitor?

The rules say you have to use Coteaz, so yes, you have to use Coteaz. If it makes you feel better to not call him Coteaz, but have the same model same abilities same gear and same points, go for it.

Or you could reduce your enthusiasm and not use henchman as troops.

Because I shouldn't HAVE to use logan to unlock termies as troops if I want and I should HAVE to buy the farsight enclave supplement to get crisis as troops. And I SHOULD be able to unlock stealths as troops with shadowsun, however, that's not what your codex says, so, either use a different model( if its a model thing), get over it, or don't have henchmen as troops. Lol silly thread Automatically Appended Next Post: Awww ninja'd lol but I'm in the same boat as you, I hate using SCs all together, so I don't, and you know what? I don't have a loganwing army lol

You're taking Coteaz anyway, so just think of unlocking troops as a nice bonus.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

I can't really think of a reason other than the fact that the rules of the space manz game that you're playing of your own free will say that you have to.
Call him something else, as has been suggested, if it will make the injustice easier to bear.

He is a normal infantry character so you can use any Inquisitor-looking model as a proxy just fine.

The irony of this is you are complaining about the rules but the answer to your plight is, 'read the fluff'.

I thonk the answer he is looking for is "sure, any old inquisitor is good enough to make henchmen troops." However, the results will be the same. If you want them as troops, you have to pay the toll.

Okay now it's definitive Coteaz killed Big's parents on suspicion of heresy and now he has a personal vendetta against sir Baldilocks of the Ordo malleus.

It's also a game balance thing as well. Coteaz is good, but he's not phenomenal. Don't get me wrong, his seizing thing and expectation of deepstrikers and psychic powers are neat tricks, but in the end, he's just a T3 dude with an I1 weapon and no invul save.
As such, it was probably put in as a balancer. It was made so that you had to waste one of your HQ slots in order to get a plethora of cheap, scoring units. If you didn't have to take coteaz, you could take draigowing or a crowe list AND a librarian AND cheap scoring units. It would basically nullify the weaknesses of those lists while being able to double down on strengths if you weren't forced to take coteaz.
Instead, as mentioned, it takes cheap scoring units and makes them reasonably priced by forcing the coteaz tax.
On the other hand, if what you want is a big pile o' henchmen list, then coteaz is actually a good choice to support them, so you'd probably be taking him anyways. So there's no real loss.
So yeah. You can take Inquisitor Bill and make it so that he has the same rules as Coteaz. Then you'd have a non-coteaz inquisitor, and you'd be running henchmen.

Coteaz unlocks henchmen as troops because in the fluff he has whole planets worth of random dudes to throw at the enemy. Most inquisitors, while pretty resourceful, do not have the manpower at their disposal that he does.
Coteaz is an old bald magical human rocking anti-tank armor, a giant mega-hammer, and a Cyborg Mutant Eagle of Justice. How could anyone possibly dislike him?

It's bloody idiotic. To get an Inquisitor without Grey Knights you have to use Ordo Malleus special character! No Ordo Xenos or Ordo Hereticus Inquisitors allying to IG or Marine armies without at least one Squad of Ordo Malleus' super secret and rare daemon-killing-soldier tagging along!
I like inquisitors but I don't like GK. I just want to be able to customise my own inquisitor* and their little warband and ally it to my Imperial armies.
* (And they should be able to have a force field. These guys can requisition battleships, but apparently a simple force wield is too much for them! Hell, even IG has refractor fields.)

Maybe they'll eventually get an Inquisition supplement, that'll allow for full ordo X that isn't Ordo Malleus.

Ork Admiral Kroozin Da Kosmos on Da Hulk

Some veterans seem to have a different view on this. I know a couple who will moan at every single named character fielded ever. They failed to realize that named characters have shifted from being rare over-powered protagonist of their army to bearers of unique rules which need to be balanced by allowing only one of those models.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |
