Can the Bastiladon march and fire it's solar engines bound spell, on another forum someone said no but I couldn't find it in the rules.

Blood for the bloo... wait no, I meant for Sanguinius!

Marching only restricts shooting (normally). A bound spell is not shooting.

Correct.
If you march, you can cast the spell, but the skink crew cannot throw javelins.

Hrm.

But are the skinks marching? Meh, I guess it says unit. Though I think they should be able to since they are just holding on.

They have to hang on while it charges along - no time to prepare their weapons.

I think there are scarier things to vanguard in this book, especially with walk between worlds being available.

Yes... a Carnasaur would be very scary vanguarded too.

Razordon spam vanguard FTW.

Thats only a scar vet though, so less scary

Still not seeing razordons as that scary. Rolling to hit sucks

Paired with lore of high magic, D3 to BS is awesome. D3 to Movement, WS, BS and Init is godly.
Unit of 6 throws out ~30 shots average, 39 average on a stand and fire. If you roll average, you're BS5, and doing 20 hits at 18", followed by 23 more hits on stand and fire.
43 S4 hits is pretty impressive. In combat you;d be throwing out 12 S5 attacks at WS5 and Init 6, and ~21 S3 attacks at WS4 and Init 6.

Razordons are just made for Hand of Glory as they gain a significant and usable advantage from each stat boost.

True, never really looked at them again - I'm just so disappointed by salamanders this edition (yes, aware they needed toning down..they did more than that though!) that id didnt even consider them.

Stegadons with a skink priest nearby are good fun, S7 D3 wounding impact hits....

/Derail...

Losing march and fire toned them down; they really needed that.
Going to S4 sv-1 instead of S3 vs-3 has been a significant boost.
S3 sv-3 was better against T3 with 4+ or better armor, or T4 with 2+ or better armor; and is never better against T5.
So against the vast majority of enemies S4 works out to be the same, or significantly better.
Just don't use them to try and kill knights. Which, was never a great idea to begin with, a perfect hit was killing ~1-3 knights on a good day.
Instead of the desperation shot on the knights, have the slaan cycle out his high magic for Searring Doom (No save), or Burning Gaze (S6 hits); or Bastiladon for the random strength 2D6 missile.
Over-all, I'd say salamanders are a wash. They lost range, but gained hitting power against their ideal targets.
As for synergy, the army can give them vanguard and ethereal movement which really covers the issue of reduced range.
Cost went up 5 points, but the extra handler is a point cheaper.

I've run 6 Razordons and 2 single salamanders and have been very happy. The single template can hit so many guys, you can't ignore the lone salamanders. The razordons then play clean up by peppering those remaining models where you don't need to be as close, or need the ideal angle. The razordons did totally punish a High Elf Cav bus, and I've loved them ever since (killed everyone but the characters before combat).
