Subject: 40k Tyranid CC Carnifexes can they be worth using?

Hey, what do people think about CC fexes?
Can they be worth using? i have heard of different tactics like, trying to get cover as much as you can while running up the board in a brood of 2 or 3, and have Dual ST, AG and frag spines. Then keep the brood near a squad of friendly infantry in case the get tar pitted. Also heard of having a brood with a Prime, do these tactics work, and are they worth it?
Thanks for your feedback

Short answer, no. If you're purchasing a unit of 3, it's gonna cost ya more than 500 points.
Even with the upgraded frag spines, you'll go last in combat. They don't have a high enough WS to hit more than 2 of their attacks each then you're looking at just being stuck in combat.
The typical load out for a CC fex unit also comes with bio plasma so the you're talking another 20 points a piece.
The worst past is they don't even have fleet so they are extremely slow to get to combat. You'll likely lose 1 by the time you finally get there T3.

Sadly they aren't worth the points in the current codex. On the bright side rumours have it that we're getting a new Codex soon, so they may be worth it come November.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

Carnifex in a spore = the cost of a Trygon
It depends on what you want

Which is why a CC Fex isn't viable, Trygons are better at CC and more points efficient.

Well, you don't have to smash with carnifexes to ID a lot of stuff.
I'm not disagreeing with you at all. I'm just saying, as a guy who has 9 carnifexes, there are ways to use them to the best of their abilities.
If I was going to a tournament, of course I'd rather have a Trygon (probably a Trygon prime honestly) but hammer of wrath at str 9 is pretty fun.

Heck yeah...one or two makes a great threat vector.
IF you have other dedicated and faster threat vectors.
Honestly...I flank a Screamerfex alongside 2x Dakkafexes.

Two sets of twin-linked Devourers and in a Mycetic Spore? Honestly, a dakkafex is nearly as good in CC as a CC Fex.
