I'm not saying you have to go out and work (well you should but thats an aside), but you were thrown out, big flip. Go somewhere else. Do something else. Life's too short to give a gak. After all (wait for it, here it comes!) back in my day, people would gripe for fifteen minutes and then do something else. I guess its the intranetz.
It took you three edits to spit that line of crud out???
Sounds like YOU need to get over it....

Farseer, Alex has posted a rather positive resolution to the whole thing (which is why the thread was unlocked). It'd be better not to dig up past confrontations...
See below
ALEXisAWESOME wrote:Hey, just wanted to post a resolution and thank you for everyone who stuck with me this far. Although the resolution isn't action packed or full of drama, its the resolution I would of liked the best.
The manager looked at the letter, never said anything to me other then thank you, and I have yet to see the staff member again. The manager handled it discreetly and I'm sure if I asked what he did with the info he would tell me, but I'd honestly not want to know. All I did was bring the concern to their eyes, I should have no say in there internal politics.
All I can do is hope the man is nicer to other people back in his own store in Liverpool and I can forget about it ever happening. No fuss, no gift cards, and hopefully no dismissals as I would feel horrible (He wasn't very social, but for I know his dog might of died or something).
Thanks for the support all the way through and the help in resolving the issue. As well as helping me see the other side of the story. Dakka may be full of trolls, but they are nice trolls, and they are our trolls

You should read the whole thread again
EDIT: NOTE THIS DAY YOU SCURVY CAT LOVERS, Frazzled may have been wrong. I know I am as shocked as you are.
In PMs with the OP he sounds like a very balanced chap and I am impressed with the whole taking an army on a bus thing, so I now pitch my tent in his camp. You're all still a bunch of hippy tree huggers though, and probably like cats too.
Good deal on the resolution. I would have preferred you get some sort of gift credit for your pain, but decent resolution regardless. Kind of annoyed you didn't receive a gift certificate or something...

-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

I have since read it and am glad he got to tell the manager his story and it seems there has been a positive resoloution.

Alex, I made a few posts in this thread, most notably to show case the line of thinking that could have led to the situation from the employees point of vieuw. I'm not sure if you took my post to heart but I am very glad to see that in the resoultion you have had you handled it more maturely then a lot of adults would have. Especially the part where you distanced yourself from the situation and held no grudge against the employee is a mighty big thing to do for anyone. You have my respect.

I'm not seeing any resolution here?
The kid writes a letter and hands it in then nothing. Thanks allot now run along seems to be the vibe.
That's not a resolution, that's being placated then palmed off.
I really do wonder how anyone can think this is right if this chap was as poorly treated as he suggests?

you go in to buy something and find out that they are out of stock. ok. moving on to your next order of business, you attempt to play a game with someone using their open tables. ok. you get kicked out for not buying anything/loitering? not ok. you should explain to the manager that you intended on making a purchase, but due to the lack of product, could not. no customer should ever get kicked out for that, and especially a GW! the storefront that is designed for hobbyists to come play and mingle, and have direct access to product. this is absolutely appalling, and i am sorry to hear about your misfortune young man. i hope everything works out for you so you can enjoy your hobby.
EDIT: read your resolution post. you are a respectable young man! i'm glad to hear that it all worked out. that kind of character of yours will take you far!

Yeah, it didn't sound like a 'resolution' to me.
So was it confirmed the 'guy' was a manager from another store or something which was just there for temp coverage? It sounds like the 'guy' didn't work there regularly so there wasn't anything that could be done as he didn't work for the manager? If it was a 'peer to peer' issue, there may not be anything he could say apart from not asking him to 'cover his shop' if he is out.

I think this is exactly the kind of resolution that was needed. No big fuss, no recompense (There by admitting blame/responsibility). Just a nice manager collecting all the facts and handling it discreetly between himself and the employee in question. No public/customers should be involved in the internal politics of a company, especially not the person who complained in the first place. I am 100% sure that IF I wanted to know what became of the employee and the info I gave him, he would tell me. But that's not my place. The best I can do is submit the complaint and hope it is addressed, anything more would make me look vengeful of biased and anything less would be inconsiderate considering others complained FOR me.
The guy worked as a red shirt in Liverpool, I don't know what, or even if the manager has spoken to them about it. So it could simply be a palm off and it never goes any further then the managers bin, but I would of completed my part to formally complain, its now GW's job
to decide what to do with it.
This is the perfect resolution, my happily ever after, the everything returns to as it once was. And an even bigger plus that the new staff member is a long time veteran who is a good friend since I started the hobby, so anything like this is unlikely to happen again.
Alex.
