Not yet my missing parts were acknowledged on the 16th of March with a note that I will be contacted when they are dispatched but nothing yet. With Zombiciide and Xenoshyft both currently shipping their main focus is probably on them.

So it's safe to send missing part requests?
My extra Iron Eyes with two cloaks hiding inside of the Ancient King's box is something I'd like to get rectified.
I'm hoping once my brother gets settled in his new place we get a chance to play. Seeing the online prices for some of these figures now that they're out in the wild makes me wish I had gone in even more than I did during the KS (which is really odd since I sold off the bulk of my extra factions).
I still want some of those Goritsi wolves.

Anyone try basing on clear bases? I was thinking of trying it but was hoping to see it first.

I have to say, I continue to feel pretty irked about the bases they sent with my models. It was a pretty scumbag move in my opinion. To use them at all you either have to go buy their (late to deliver, big surprise) base inserts (clearly what they intended) or buy some other goop to fill in the massive well. It has put a hold on my desire to paint anything. Sending out the plain dirt inserts for the Goritsi "graveyard" bases was also a jerk move. Overall, it left me with the impression that CMON doesn't give a crap about their customers. Despite being pretty pleased with the models I don't think I'll go for another CMON KS.

I didn't like the 'dirt' bases, e-mailed them and within a week or so had my refund via PayPal.

You need to get over it. That's the style base they use for Dark Age as well. It's hardly a "scumbag" move.

Cheap trick then? It is like somebody selling you an all inclusive cruise ticket, but when you show up, you have to buy their special key card to get into the dining hall. I thought they developed these deep dish bases specifically for their bases Kickstarter? Have they been using them for a long time?
It would have certainly helped if they had just been upfront about it. Something along the lines of "these come with deep dish bases incompatible with standard basing techniques" instead of "Surprise! You need to buy our other thing to use your bases."
As for "getting over it" I see no reason why I should. Short of them sending me better bases, it will continue to be a negative mark against CMON for me. Maybe I will suddenly enjoy spending my hobby time building up bases with wood filler?

At least 5 years with dark age.

What "standard basing techniques" are those? Putting wood filler, putty, or plain old sand/ballast in the bases works just fine. Are there some "standard basing techniques" I'm missing? Additionally, the bases are perfect for using water effects with, say, the Hadross.

There's nothing wrong with the bases you were supplied with.

Apply glue to base, dip in sand or ballast. It takes me one layer of sand+PVA to cover a regular base. Just eye-balling it, It would likely take me 3-4 layers to fill up the CMON ones using the same method. I don't want the lip of the base covering the ankles of my miniatures, and I don't want to spend my time building up bases with wood filler or whatever just to have them be use-able.
I agree they are perfect for water effect bases. I hope to use some of them to that effect someday. Unfortunately, the ratio of fishmen to land based miniatures I need to base is pretty low. I don't think water effects would work well for the Goritsi or Teknes, or anything else I currently own. Maybe lizardmen? That might look cool on a couple..
Your Jedi mind control won't work on me! I remain unhappy with the bases because they take senseless extra work and money to make useful. Even after I fill them with wood filler (some day), I will still have to apply sand or ballast to get a decent texture. Do you disagree that they take more work than a standard flat top base?
I appreciate the insider info you gave us from CMON during the campaign, but we will just likely have to disagree on this point. No matter how many times you tell me the bases are fine, they take extra time and money to make use-able for land based miniatures, and I can't see how that is a good thing. The only benefit to the deep dish bases is that they are compatible with CMON's very own base inserts, that I have two problems with: 1) They are not available to buy and 2) They were not included with the bases.
It is like they sent me half a base, and want me to either pay for the other half, or sculpt it myself with a goop of my choice.

I wholly understand that you're unhappy with them. I was probably a bit too brief in my previous response. I put most of my stuff on resin bases, and when I don't I actually find the deeper wells allow for more scenic and fancy things to be done with the base, which I prefer.
While this doesn't solve your problem now, the MAS plastic bases will fit perfectly in the deeper wells of the CMoN bases. So there will be that option in the future.
Cheers!

Guys, I also totally get not being happy about getting deep dish (love that name ) bases if you weren't expecting them.
But let me tell you the process I went through to deep-dish base my gator army before these existed:
1. 3D printed some master bases that Jin modeled up in SolidWorks
2. Had Wehrkind make silicone molds and cast copies of these bases
3. Realized I wanted to use a deeper scenic insert than I had planned, so lasercut a hole in the middle of every base
4. Lasercut an acrylic piece to put under the newly cut hole in each base
5. Glued in the lasercut acrylic piece and scenic insert to each base
So, while I get the dislike for receiving these by surprise, man oh man why didn't they exist before now
That said, I likely would have done some of this process anyway since Jin's base design has a nice, clear front arc (useful for Warmachine) integrated into it, which is part of why I wanted to use them. But still, that was a lot of work to get to where you guys are at naturally

That list would make us a lot more sympathetic to your plight if it didn't include the word "lasercut" so often.
"These bases! I received no fewer than 3 naked hugs from behind from Jessica Alba during the process. It was rough!" Automatically Appended Next Post: I do rather agree that it would have been a classy move to at least offer standard bases instead of the deep dish bases for people in case they didn't get the inserts. I have tons of spare PP bases (and my own make) so I am fine, but still, I can see why people would be irked.

I see that some places in the States such as Miniature Market have some WOK boxes at retail already. Has there been any word from CMON about a UK/EU distributor and when we are likely to see retail over here?
Also have CMON set out any kind of release schedule?

Nothing so far,
but they've only been available at CMON itself in the US since 6th April

Oh wow, I had no idea these weren't available at retail yet - I just took it for granted seeing them for sale at AdeptiCon! The models impressed all the folks I talked to who saw them there, and I even bought one . So kudos to CMON for honing their PVC craft and overcoming some of its flaws, at least for organic models.
It is still far from my favorite material, but I have more of an appreciation for what it's useful for now. And heck, I've pledged for their latest campaign (B-sieged!). I am viewing that as board game pieces... but beautiful ones

Thanks for the information Orlando. I like the idea of WOK as a supplementary game and getting a box of miniatures and painting it up every few months and having a nice force after a year or two.
I have never really dealt with CMON, is there any real future for the game or is it a case of once everything funded by the Kickstarter is released that is it?

Not at all. If you look at how dark age has sustained, that's probably what you should be expecting. I imagine there will be quite a bit to come from wrath of kings in the future.

I'm sure we'll see more releases in the future, but my question is whether it will be straight to retail or via another KS campaign.
I'd be good either way. There was some cool stuff that was done as concept art we haven't gotten to see figures of yet!

That is good to hear. The game already has some unique and well designed factions and I have heard largely positive things about the game play. So it seems like WOK will be a good use of my hobby money and time.
Edit for backers that have raised a support ticket: This just popped up in the Kickstarter comments:
"We have had to adjust the personnel on staff for our support department recently. Because of this there may have been a lapse in support coverage. If you have submitted a support ticket for either a missing order or a parts request more than 2 weeks ago and have not had a response, we would like to ask for you to submit a new ticket to support@cmon.com. We will work to happily and quickly sort out any issue you may need resolved. Thank you for your patience."
