A really bad Land Raider Crusader with no transport options, less BS, bad weapons and can be tied up in combat. Easily the second most overpriced model in a codex full of overpriced models.

T6 W2 3+

Maybe, the thing is you can fire all the Krak missiles you want at a unit of Terminators and watch them laugh it off, do the same against Tyrant Guard and watch them die. I'd consider them to be mini-TMCs or MEQ with high Toughness and an extra wound, rather than TEQ.

Are you telling me there's nothing in the 'Nid codex with a 2+ save that's fairly killy that ISN'T an HQ?

There are 2 models in the entire codex that can have a 2+ save.
Non-winged Hive Tyrant and the Tyrannofex. Neither of them are common builds IME.

Plus you have to pay 40 points to get a walking Hive Tyrant a 2+ save.

What exactly is it that puts regular Terminators above Lychguard?

Lychguard have to compete with Canoptek Wraiths.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

Wraiths are great, don't get me wrong, but they're more TEQ killers than TEQs themselves.
(More of a hammer than an anvil, where as TEQs are supposed to durable and resilient.)

I just find it disappointing that what should have obviously been the Terminators of the Necron codex turned out to be such a flop.
(it's not even as if it would have been very hard to fix them, too. A minor price drop. Mixing wargear in the same unit. Suddenly you've got a semi versatile squad that is worth considering, yet not overpowered. Hell, for the price they are now, I would have expected them to already have 2+'s, but even if I had to pay extra to get it on them, it might be worth it).

While not quite as durable, Wraiths fill the same role as Lychguard, and do it better for cheaper.

Which is just sad, really, as they should be filling completely different roles (where one unit is weak, another unit can come along to pick up the slack. It shouldn't be a case of "this one unit can do everything, so we don't even need to worry about anything else". THAT is where cries of cheese are justly made. As I've said before, all we can do is hope they balance the next codex (make the things that are OP less so, make the things that are crap suck less)... but then, that's what we hope for all codices...)
*sigh*
:(
