In the 40k lore how big are Wraithknights? If the model is gives any idea they are massive.

Well... considering they never existed before this codex, I'd say whatever the codex says, if anything. Other then that, i'd say about 55' tall, given their height on the table.

Compare it to a Guardian model, who I would imagine would be around 6 to 6 and a half feet tall.

Because games workshop is so famous for their accurate scale models.....

In all seriousness though, unless it says in the codex, we really have no idea, or way of telling..

And even then we'll end up with conflicting numbers sooner or later... just compare GW Codices and FW Army Books regarding the dimensions of Imperial tanks.

The good thing is that at this size, exact numbers aren't even necessary, as long as you have a rough idea. Other than that, feel free to make something up!

FW gives the Reaver a height of 22.3m. Place the Wraithknight next to and measure, then calculate the relative height and convert from model scale.

About 13-14 metres.

The GW scale isn't so bad that something roughly mansize (tall mansize) wouldn't be in the ballpark.

Have a Guardian and approximate that he's around 2m tall and measure from there.

By my estimates, it's roughly 10-12m tall (5-6 Guardians), bearing in mind the knees are slightly bent (the Guardian's knees are also bent, but cancels out once you add the base height).

How tall is a carnifex described to be then? I don't have any books with me so can't check myself.

A carnifex is 4.5 meters at the highest point as per Lexicanum which itself gets this from IA4.

The mansized things arn't bad, but SMs are. Rhinoes and Razrobacks are tiny in relation to the Marines, as are Land Raiders in relation to Termies. Dreadnoughts are massively downscaled when you look at the sarcophagus in the centre, which needs to be big enough to hold a whole marine, in case his severe injries are internal and he takes up the same space.

If I'm not wrong, Dreadnought pilots usually have their limbs cut off first.

Usually yes, if it is severe external damage. I'm talking about internal damage, like f their hearts and lungs were mushed or maybe just a huge whole in their torso, and they needed to be put in the Dreadnought to continue so they would still have their limbs.

Even if they had no arms and legs the Dreadnought model'a sarcophagus is far too small in relation to the SM models

I thought they were just about right for an armourless torso

They don't even need to do that.

A large mansize person can easily fit in there with it's current size. Just not still wearing his power armour and not with his base (!) still attached.

I honestly don't think so. It just looks far to small to fit a marine in there.

Check the torso of the plastic Venerable Dreadnought kit, there's actually a sculpted marine torso behind the front armour plate. They fit just fine.

Becoming a dreadnought is a life sentence. With all the cybernetic interfaces and the fact that the marine isn't coming out of the sarcophagus, removing his limbs so the Techmarines can connect the nerves the same way for each subject is a reasonable assumption. All you really need is an intact central nervous system (brain and spinal cord); the rest is unnecessary meat.

Armor is generally off scale.
like how a Russ could not contain its crew of 4 (or 6 with sponsons) and its gun is absurdly large bore.
but 14 meters sounds right for a wraithknight. least it looks like it could have a 1 man cockpit in the torso and have a elder sized model inside it.
