So, Salamanders can move and shoot, but not March and Shoot apparently?

So, I was wondering if say I moved my Salamanders up 6" according to their move I could then cast the boosted version of "Walk Between Worlds" shuffle them up 20" and then there would be no penalties for shooting when I start sending flame templates along the side of my opponents army, hopefully out of charge arcs!

Sorry if I am wrong, I am still really rather new to putting all the rules into one and playing games..

on the forum. Obviously

Huh, looks like you can. I was sure there was a caveat, but there isn't. Yeah, you can do that.

That works just fine. Nothing in the spell description says to treat the movement like Marching, and Salamanders can shoot as long as they do not march. No conflict involved.

I suggest you don't believe anything posted by thedarkavenger unless confirmed by other regular posters here at Dakka. He has shown he is incapable of basic English comprehension.

Applies to any other shooting as well, i've gotten some nice shots with my giant blowpipes with it.

A bit off topic but would that move work for terradons dropping rocks?

Hmmmm..So if I were to go second, I could theoretically have 2 flame template throwing Salamanders behind my opponents lines...

I was tempted to make a list using that spell to dump 2 carnasaur vets behind the enemy when i read it.

Well, "Walk Between Worlds" and the "Drop Rocks" attack both happen in the "Remaining Moves Subphase" and since the only stipulation of the rocks attack is that you have moved over an enemy unit, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to!

Re-read the spell again. Walk Between Worlds doesn't happen in the Remaining Moves Subphase, it's a spell, so it happens in the Magic Phase. The spell merely calls upon you to move AS IF you were in the Remaining Moves Subphase, i.e. you can't use it to charge because charges aren't done in that subphase.

And the Salamander trick is perfectly fine. Like others have said, there's nothing in the spell description to say that movement via the spell counts as marching.

Ooooooooooooooh....I was getting the wording of the spell confused, I am an utter doofus then it seems!

IIRC, it's the same wording for Van Hels, and for Hex Wraiths. Their FAQ said movement from Van Hels does trigger hex wraith hits. If used against me, I'd allow the rock drop. I'd just be thrilled you cast it on the terradons and not on the unit of 4 Salamanders like you should have.

And for the Fire Phoenix flyover attack as well.

I think hoping to roll walk between worlds is about the only reason to take a fire phoenix over a frost one.

If you're often facing cheap hordes of crap (SkavenSlaves, Nightgoblins, Empire infantry ...), Fire Phoenix is much better
Otherwise Frost is clearly superior

The problem is, against Skaven, Nightgoblins and Empire, you're likely to face so much shooting, you don't want to be out of combat.

Well against Skaven it doesn't change a thing as you'll be fighting Slaves anyway!
