I admit, my Google-fu is weak. It doesn't help that many Panzee players refer to their Eldar armies by their made up names and rarely put "eldar" in their pic or thread titles. So, that doesn't make the search for inspiring pics easy. Then there is the whole issue of Dark Eldar getting mixed in with my search requests for just "Eldar" <sigh>

So, since a good number of awesome Eldar armies have popped up on Dakka through google searches, I've decided to just straight-up ask for pics here.

I'm still trying to decide on a theme and color scheme.
I'm leaning Ulthwe, but already have a Black Legion Chaos army...so really not looking forward to black again, unless something really awesome inspires me to change my mind.
I recall seeing, once, ages ago, an Ulthwe army that featured Eldar lettering along the sides of grav-tank "wings". That was really cool, but can't seem to locate those pics again.

After seeing some great looking armies in the Battle Reports section, I'm not entirely certain I want to stick with Ulthwe. But, of course, many of the pics in the Battle Reports section are just one-offs and may not get to see details.
I need some inspiration to help pick my theme and color scheme.
Friends! Show me your Eldar piccies!

I'd say look in the Codex foto seection for something you like and then search for the name of that bunch of Eldar.

Already did that, and again, not everyone labels their Eldar the same way. I get some "ulthwe" pics, but not the stuff I'm looking for.
There's a lot of homebrew stuff that is also very intriguing, and in general I'm looking for just really inspiring and well designed paint schemes.
Coolminiornot has some fantastic ideas for single models, but I'm looking for army themes, not just a one-off Falcon.

Man, do what appeals to you. Instead of gaining inspiration from other people, just sit there and think about. think about a story for them, and why they'd be coloured the way they are. I've seen a lot of people do this before, I saw this one guy who did his army up as "space" camo, where literally he went a painted stars, and nebulae on his army, it was fantastic.

Paint them whatever colour you want.

I like blue, I found some dice I liked the look of so I based my scheme to try to match them.

Ugh... not much into the fluff these days, and just don't have much care or imagination for a back story. I have very little time to paint lately, so I'm trying to find something I will enjoy doing while I have the time. "Sitting there and thinking about it" is not really on the agenda.

Paint them whatever colour you want.

That's not really meaningful or helpful. Though I do like your inspiration for your Eldar and they are looking good!

I could slap any old paintjob I like on any of my models, but I'm looking for really good color combos and design elements that I could draw some inspiration from. Preferrably stuff already ON eldar models so I have some idea of the end result.
Example; if I go "ulthwe" scheme, I might use Red weapons instead of Bone. I don't care for that weird "knot" or "lightning" effect that GW has on their stock models, but I really do want to break up the Black in some way. What ways have you found to break up the solid colors on your models?

Look at pictures of creatures in nature, like insects and birds, and so on. Natural colour schemes usually look pretty great.

Some of my friends who play Eldar/Tau use this: http://colorschemedesigner.com/
It's useful for finding colour schemes that work well together

Thanks.
But that is the easiest place to start at, find colours you like or would like to paint then find colours that work well with them. The way I found to try to break up solid blocks for me was with shading, highlighting and an accent colour. Gold would work with the black as well so there's that. But the easiest way to break a block without making it too busy, is to simply define the edge of the segments that make it up. At least in my opinion.
