why the is he doing a SM and DE ally?
Please explain how this makes any sense fluff wise when the Ultra smurfs would rather die then be the Dark eldar slaves?
someone explain how this might help gamewise (tabletop) as he is using marnues and lilith in the same army for some reason

It would seem that Lilith recognized a grave threat and got word to Marneus to work out a temporary truce until said threat is taken care of.

The Dark Eldar and the Space Marines are having a good old brawl, when suddenly the [insert opponent's army here] arrive on the scene, and start attacking both sides. The DE and the SM realise that neither of them will survive without the help of the other, and power-armoured, fast-moving goodness ensues.

Cause having to rely on relatively expensive (that is, in relation to their firepower and durability) troops that fall appart at the slightest breeze sucks. Oh, a fluff reason? How about, Archon Cruella Generica decided that she required new slaves, put some mind altering drugs into the spacemarine company's water supply and is now using them to round up citizens in the heart of Ultramar.

Tabletop wise:
Is he using a beast pack? Those could provide an interesting niche to the SM. That or the spamming venoms could help deal with MC that the SM tend to have some issues with. Also make sure he is not joining SM IC to the DE units and vice versa as this is illegal.

Fluff wise:
DE are the ultimate mercenaries. They will work with almost anyone for the right price, even Slaanesh-chaos who are trying to get their souls numbnumb'd on. The SM would use DE mercs if the need is great enough, as in a major invasion.

Alternatively the SM could be monitoring them while there are greater threats to deal with. "Keep your enemies close..." combined with "An enemy of an enemy..." sort of philosophy.

As far as I can tell the SM are in general very willing to work with xenos. This is probably in the name of conserving their forces and their more "enlightened" attitude as opposed to the SoB, "Burn the Heretic! Cleanse the Xenos!" philosophy. The SM in general seem to be rather arrogant with the overall policy that nothing can possibly trick, fool, out-think, or outfight them so they can use whatever will get the current mission done without worries. This seems to be the root cause of a large number of renegade chapters and some really wierd alliances...cough...necron/BA brofist...cough.


You will note that despite the hardliner rhetoric the IoM is more than willing to work with xenos and use their tech. Even the GK make heavy use of xenos tech and even some xenos species (Jakearo).

As for the eldar. They think everyone else is jumped up trained animals and with minimal effort they can use them as disposable pawns. Eldar arrogance is a racial attribute and is trained from birth. If it had a stat it would be equal or greater than their initiative...wait, it may be the source of their initiative stat as they never have to pause in doubt.

If you don't like it, you CAN choose to not play him - you DO know that, right?

Of course, if he's the ONLY guy you have to play the game with, it means nobody has any fun - but it's better than only one of you.

Alternatively, you could just play him at his own game.
Take csm/necrons (a bigger fluff abomination) and spam croissants and hellchickens.

Or just stop playing the game completely if stuff like this annoys you.

'Cause Fluff be dammed. Maybe Lilith had a passionate love affair with the Ultra SMurf Captain who then, obsessed with her luscious body, decides to lead his army around with her to try impress her so that she will bless him with some more naughty space elf adult fun time. By a gaming perspective space marines are very durable, but lack balls out fire power and speed that DE have in droves. Wyches provide a lethal anti vehicle unit and when lead by Lilith are a strong Horde sweeper. DE have the speed to avoid the one eye open rule and give another dimension to a normally bland space marine army, I don't see a problem with this.
