Hi all,
I'm starting an eldar army, I am toying between Ulthwe and San Han colour schemes so would like to know what you all have seen the least of?

Least of personally? Probably Iyanden. Yellow is or maybe used to be a nightmare to do :(

It still is... it still is... *shakes head in despair*

But that's the "Important" craftworld scheme. The Codex has some lesser Craft World schemes that I have never seen painted besides there... let me see what I can dig up.

Edit:

I don't think I have ever seen an eldar painted near those schemes. Il-kaithe, never even close.

Mymeara. Teal is also a wonderful color for shading as you can go lighter or darker very easily. Makes larger vehicles look much better when you darken or lighten to the edges.

Out of Ulthwe and Saim-Hann I would say that Ulthwe is the one I see little of. But there are many Craftworld schemes. Mymera, Yme-loc, Zahr Tann. You could also make your own. But if it is between those two and the deciding factor is which tends to be seen the least then I would say Ulthwe.

Why not make a poll? It would be a lot easier for you to see peoples choices.

Create your own. Chances are that no-one will have an identical colour scheme, or even one that's similar.

I'd love to have painted my Eldar in a custom colour scheme, but I started Eldar many years ago, when I was less creative, and I can't face painting several tanks and dozens of guardians, warlocks, farseers and jetbikes!

I was thinking of possible doing a bone and maroon combo..... but highlighting bone when its the majority colour seems to me like it has not been highlighted and doesn't sit right with me on larger models.

I also like to keep my armies as true to the fluff as I can but with my own little spin, for example with my high elves I painted each unit to where they come from but I know the fluff from high elves much better then I do with Eldar, so my HE are all different colours and it works well.

The reason I don't want to do that for this army is due to time, I have a doubles tournament coming up in Oct I have to learn the army and paint it so for ease I thought of going for one colour scheme.

Done well, Sam-Hain (sp?) is the best looking to me.

I have no idea why this isn't more popular. I find it gorgeous.

I think cause orange can be somewhat annoying like yellow as it's too easy to make it look red if you mess up.

The classic yellow with black tiger stripes.

Saim-Hann and Ulthwe are probably the easiest ones (lawl black and bone)

Kabal of the Void Dominator - now with more purple!

Tek has a Yme-Loc army - seen it in person and it looks impressive.

I personally went with Lugganath, another orange Craftworld:

I rarely see Biel-Tan or Alaitoc.

I went with kind of a Lugganath off shoot with a little brighter colors. I think you'll be happy if you take a scheme you like and mix it with your own style (so there's no sad comparisons with eavy metal stuff)

I do a scheme with the following:

primary: purple
secondary 1: black
secondary 2: gray

purple and black are easy to highlight and look good together

I also mix in bone color (colour for you Brits) for my weapons and various details
