While priming my Oniwaban Shinobu Kitsune (click for pic) at my building's garage (big one, with 2 floors for a good amount of cars) I stupidly nearly dropped her, but with the reflex save the head just... popped... and heard a very faint noise... which meant the head dropped on the downward ramp to the lower floor...

Spent nearly 30 mns combing the dark / gray floor in search for her head... it was NOT fun.

Somehow managing to loose the ten power weapon arms I had converted for my Chaos terminators, they only reaperd when I was changing out my old work desk for a new one. A year later

well at least it seems everyone managed to find/replaced their missing pieces...though losing ten arms seems a bit excessive XD

What can I say, between me being somewhat disorganized, having a liiteral TON of different bitzs floating about and the somewhat lackluster organiaztion of my different projects at the time aided me in that regard.

The bar used to attach a Wraithlord's arms.
I'd magnetised both ends, and dropped it in the garage after undercoating it. It'll be stuck to a bike gear or something.

So, a hastily-cut length of sprue, and I was all set.

I rarely lose bits.

Whiole building my Haqqislam Nasmat remotes, I saw four little antennae bits I couldn't find a use for and put them aside. When priming, I realised I was missing the feet. Cue facepalm. Luckily they hadn't gone in the bin yet.

My friend pulled his Aleph out for a game this weekend only to notice his Deva was missing an arm, so he just bought the model again.

I keep a flashlight with me when I build my kits. If I am in my room and something drops, hitting the hardwood - GG. Bits can bounce ridiculously far and in directions completely the opposite of where you were looking.

I've luckily never lost any bit for more than a few minutes. Sometimes I just won't bother looking if the sprues had more of the same bit that weren't going to be used elsewhere.

I sometimes think there are warp portals. I have a carpet under my chair, desk and work area, but occasionally a bit falls on the hardwood floor. I have a moment of extreme anger, I *sigh*, I grab my cellphone to use as a flashlight, and prepare myself to go search for that bit.

I love it when a bit falls off your desk, and you don't hear it hit anything. It just falls into some void in the inbetween. I know I'm missing a Terminator head somewhere, but by and large I haven't lost any bits in a long, long time.

My problem is I work in carpeted room, and the carpet is the exact same color as unpainted GW minis. So when something drops, I have a hell of a time trying to find it.

One time when I was working on my Cadians, I dropped one of the tiny canteens. I searched and searched but I just gave up, it wasn't that important of a bit. Needless to say, we found it a week later when we vacuumed the carpet...along with 4 other bits I apparently had dropped...

The Mk 8 breastplate that comes from the Tac Squad. I used it on a dead marine marker thing before I realised it was a Mk8. Broke up the marine to use it's right handed plasma pistol and never seen the breatsplate since. The rest of the parts are still there, including the Greenstuff.

Up until a few weeks ago, I hobbied primarily over linoleum. When I dropped something I would wait for the noise and then prepare to sift through dust bunnies and plastic shavings under my desk. Sounds like I don't clean but I would sweep between projects. the dust bunnies come from my girlfriend's fiber processing mostly.

The cringe moment was when I would drop something and NOT hear anything. I would freeze and begin patting down my clothing and slowly standing up waiting for movement or noise.

Positive note, i found a random CSM head while packing to move.

I am finding that the pile of the new carpeting I installed upstairs in multiple rooms including my modelling room and gaming room is not very conducive to ease of finding dropped model parts...urrrr...

It is a nice color combo to effectively hide any possible stains from my cats throwing up their food, though.

I haven't lost anything in quite awhile in modeling, but I *have* resolved to only move into places with hardwood or tile floors. I am so tired of spending 20 minutes combing through the carpet to find some tiny-ass bit of plastic or metal.

i'm still looking for the boarding shotgun for my Haq. Janissarie...
it's in one of my figure cases, floating around loose, or maybe it's ended up in one if the numerous bags of minis...
the worst part is, i've found it twice, but lost it three times:(...

luckily, i live in a house with tile...
carpet is a horrible black hole for bits...
i've lost one of Huron's claws, never to be seen again, and one off the Helldorado chinese demon...

found my plastic Dante conversion with the vaccum once...
that was horrible, sucking up a half painted mini:(...
i did manage to fix and finish him, though, eventually...

the part that goes missing always seems to be the most important one...

cheers

Lost the left arm for an infinity sniper (the one that cradles the gun).
The hand is moulded onto the gun.

Removed the moulded hand and reshaped the foregrip, before finding an old plastic 40k eldar arm (from the original metal/plastic hybrid guardian box in RT - they're smaller than the current gen ones) and a spare chunky pistol.

Now the sniper is one-handing his rifle, but has a badass pistol as well (for <8" range shots).
