Well, I use Army Builder currently. Once I get the Codex this Friday evening, I'll play with their builder and post my thoughts.

Keep your eyes open and there's pretty often 20% off iTunes cards, which are helpful.

Here's a thread with a bunch of Canadian iTunes card deals:

Gives the same deal as a discount retailer would on the Codex.

Very impressed that GW put the army list builder in the book. Is there an exporter, or a way to email out a list? That's the difference between it being a fun tool and being amazingly useful.

That's awesome, Best buy has $60 cards for $48.

FYI - they've updated the screenshot in iBooks. Corrected Lightening Claw, "fixed" the Heavy Flamer (but have missile launcher listed twice, only once with a point cost)

Hey Everyone,

The Apple iBookstore is currently experiencing some technical difficulties.

This means we’ve been unable to upload our Force Requisition beta (the new interactive collection manager) to either ‘Codex: Space Marines (Enhanced Edition)’ or ‘Space Marines Digital Collection’.

Don’t worry though, you’ll still be able to download your pre-orders and make purchases as normal.
We’ll make sure your codex is updated with Force Requisition as soon as Apple resolves the issue.

In the meantime, sit back, relax and enjoy the hour of narrated audio other great features we’ve added to Codex: Space Marines.

from that page

We will certainly be releasing more codexes as eBook Editions in the future.
It might take us a while to get through them all, but we hope to eventually have all our rulebooks and codexes available in both digital formats.

When we have any updates on new releases for either format, we’ll post it right here on our Facebook page.

I read that as "sit back, relax and enjoy the extra bloat that we've added to the codex size that few, if any, will take advantage of".

As much as I love the pop ups of rules and wargear, I think I'm waiting for eBook versions from now on. The iBook versions have just gotten too big.

What is all this stuff about "too big"? I've got 47 "books" on my iPad including a number of codexes and it's sitting at less than five gig used. Exactly what the heck are you guys loading your iPads with that you don't have room anymore?

Music is my data hog. Any time I want to put a movie on it (for when I fly, etc) I have to nuke half of my music off.

Maybe not everyone has got the latest version of the ipad - I had an older version that worked just fine, until eventually I had to upgrade it as slowly many apps just were not supported or stopped working (you need our new version to access our content...never mind that we really didn't change anything) and thus had to get a new IOS...which, was not broke...but does not run well on the old editions.

I gave up on the ipad and the built in obsolesce (then I discovered I could not even look at my codex on my pc.....nice, thanks guys) and will be going with epub versions where I can control the content better.

I am ok without rotating pretty pictures and voice work...I just want something that works and is not bloated.

Games Workshop: Digital Editions

Hi everyone,

The first update to both the Enhanced Edition of Codex: Space Marines and the Space Marines Digital Collection will be on their way very soon, with the beta version of Force Requisition inside.

We'll be updating this feature regularly over the next few days until you all have a compete and comprehensive guide to turning your collection into an army ready for battle.

When you get our update, we're really keen to get your feedback on it, to help us turn it into a great feature for this and, hopefully, future codexes: so let us know your thoughts.

Thanks again to you all for your patience while we get this new feature up and running.

- Eddie

Hey everyone,

The enhanced edition of Codex: Space Marines will be unavailable for a short time while we resolve the upload issue with the new Force Requisition feature. We are working with Apple to solve this as soon as possible.

We realise this might have caused some inconvenience for you, so to thank you for your patience, we’ve added bonus content to the codex - all the Space Marine Datasheets from the Apocalypse rulebook and the Black Templars ones from Warzone Armageddon.

If you’ve already bought the enhanced edition of the codex, then you’ll be able to update your copy automatically once the codex is back on sale.

Thanks again for you patience while we work hard to get this fixed.
I’ll update you as soon as we have more news.

- Eddie

I've got the iPad 2 so the stuff works on older models. Maybe not the very first iPad but I didn't buy one of those so I can't say either way.

i have the iPad 1, and all of the eBook products work just fine on it...
games, on the other hand, that need IOS 6.0 do not work, as iPad 1 is no longer supported and can't be updated past IOS 5.1...
so, Talisman works, Quest does not, but all the Codex and Army books do...

cheers

Just got a look at it today and its broken. You cannot add any elite units to the list. Neither can you add any relics to any chapter master setups. Don't see how this can be any better then army builder, because there is no link reference to what does what. nor is there any chance of changing weapons on a unit once its made, meaning you have to delete it in order to change out a bolter... I understand its a Beta version but it has a looooong way to go.

I've had a play with it, the interface isn't bad, but it's not a complete version.
It's looking promising so far.
I'll be interested to see the finished product.

Still haven't heard from GW though....

This is a phase one release with just HQ, Troops and HS as they stated yesterday. They said they'd be rolling it out in pieces. As someone that's worked in software for 14 years I can tell you this makes a lot of sense.
