I feel slightly odd saying a lump of resin is gorgeous, but those termies deserve the description.

It's really cool that they and the SOH have such distinctive aesthetics.

That Iron Hands Dread looks great in resin, but the paint job does seem a bit flat. An area, or some details, in white would have really added some necessary contrast, as could an energy weapon with a coil painted in a different colour, rather than the black and steel heavy bolter.

Still, with that and the shoulder pads can Iron Hands players stop moaning that they get no love

Its the iconography on the chest, the wings are utterly dreadful, the parchment/scrollwork is massively over washed (and wouldn't you put some lettering on it for a promo piece) and the Legion icon looks very rough too.

yes, i would have put some lettering on the scroll, and painted it a bit more subtly...

i disagree about the wings, though...
they are not "utterly dreadful", in my opinion...
every feather has a nice shade line seperating them, and all details are visible...
utterly dreadful, to me , would be a solid color slopped on, with no layers or details showing...

the pic looks much better when it is not so zoomed in...
no matter how nice my paintjobs look in hand, i always cringe when i see pics of my minis, where they are 3 or 4 times bigger than life size...
it becomes very easy to pic apart every little detail...

i guess i'm just a little less judgemental, and hate to put down painters...

cheers

The termies look awesome, but unfortunately, they're uniqueness makes them pretty much unsuable in standard40k.

Still, were I ever to do a HH army, it'd be emperor's children, they simply look fantastic.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

I love everything about the EC termies except for their helmets. Do you think GK terminator helmets would fit instead? I think that would look better.

Except when it's a rare contemptor shell that houses a fallen hero. Even for the Iron Hands I'd expect some details, clan markings, unit number, shell name, awards. If such things don't matter then why not use tactical marines as captains etc, just give them the right weapon and you're good to go. But they do matter and so Captains, veterans etc have more ornate armour, awards showing etc. Things which should be on this contemptor, it's not an artillery piece, it's a hero of the legion.

Quite disappointed with the IH Contemptor.
The little cogs and rivet knee pad are really tacky imo, almost like they thought "hey its IH! how will we make it recognisable as so? Ah lash on a few rivets and cogs!.
Poor paint job too.

Terminators are very nice however.

I'd say especially as it's the Iron hands, as they hold the honor of being inside a giant machine above many others.

After reading some of the World Eaters lore I'm sure the next unit will probably be the Devourers who are the specialized terminators. I'd love to see how they turn out

My guess for next release is a tank and a death guard unit, I doubt the devourers will ever get minis, why? In WE lore ther hated, being a devoured is a shameful position to tge point that the primarch disowns you, hell after the heresy khan kills most of em.

I don't think so, operant world being "available". Forge World certainly did make one, and fairly recently at that, but I don't see it for sale any longer.

Also browsing this thread reminded me just how bad I want that Sicaran tank. I have the money to buy it, and the only real thing keeping me from grabbing it is that I have so damn much stuff as of yet unpainted, and so many other things going on project wise... but it's so pretty.

Best tank ever, next to the Land Raider Achilles.

OP, it might be a good idea to put the page number in the subject as well to help readers find the newest info prior to all the discussion of it. Its not a big deal at 4 pages but it can be a bit tough for a new thread reader to find the actual release info if they don't log in every day.

Chapter upgrade bundles are all nice and stuff, but I'm confused by the logic behind them. If it's to celebrate/tie-in to the new Codex: Space Marines, surely there ought to be Crimson Fists and Black Templars stuff rather than Blood Angels, Dark Angels and/or Space Wolves who, you know, have their own book.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

I see you're new to the Hobby, welcome.

Why give you the option of buying one book when they can force you to buy the entire series? It's the Horus Heresy so everyone knows you'll buy it at any cost, right?

Well...there was that rumor a few weeks back that GW is folding the FW site into their own. It seems like the relationship is getting closer overall with fw adopting the gw habit of expensive books being merely supplements ruleswise to other expensive books instead of standalone rules like with vraks.

Shame. I just hope it doesn't get to the point where GW starts meddling in FW activities. What makes FW such a success is the enthusiastic attitude of the staff and the fact that they are willing to try something new and/or different. You can already see GW are making sure FW previews appear in white dwarf first. It's an easy stretch to see the ever popular FW seminars and previews being curtailed - "No news unless it's in white dwarf first!"

The flip side is, if they didn't make it necessary to buy the first book, then the second book would need to have around 30-40 pages duplicating the basic Legion Army list and equipment, and people would complain that they were paying for a new book with a bunch of old content.

I agree it sucks for people who only want one book which covers their favourite chapter, but I can understand why they've done it this way, especially given the books are explicitly part of a series.

If I had to guess, Massacre may have a different kind of army list in it, rather than the Legion list that is in Betrayal. Thus, if you want to play the legion list with the new legions that are in Massacre, you would need a copy of Betrayal. Kind of like the Badab War books: great if you want to just play Tyrant's Legion, but you still need C:SM if you want to play Astral Claws.

It's been off of their website for over a year, sadly. At one of the games days, they said they were reworking it for legion use. The old one had lots of Chaos 8-point stars and such.

There was also some talk of the mould being old, and FW not being happy with how problematic the kit was to actually put together. A lot of the old FW stuff is fidgety as all hell to assemble.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.
