Skullgirls is pretty good. Plus it's slated to get a free DLC character sometime in the near future.

Mortal Kombat (9) and Injustice are both great.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Mortal kombat was great when it first came out but I question how active the online community would be these days. I haven't checked in a couple years but I would guess that it would be hard to find an online game

You can buy Guilty Gear X2^C+R on PSN. It's pretty freaking awesome, probably the most technical 2D fighter you'll find out there.

Skullgirls is fantastic, very underrepresented. King of Fighters 13 is fantastic.

I'm not a huge fan of fighters, but I really enjoyed Injustice.

PS3 has loads of choice!

There's a new one (well, arcade game is a bit older, but I think it was only released on consoles recently) called Chaos Code - I really want to try that one.

King of Fighters 13 is really good.

Street Fighter x Tekken was surprisingly good; I was expecting it to be pretty bad but it wasn't (but ignore anything but the default gems as you're only allowed to use default in 'competitive' or 'tournament' settings.

If you like 3D, I'm a fan of Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown, and Dead or Alive 5 is actually a decent fighter too.#

Finally, there's Dive Kick. This is a fighter that's much simplified down to two buttons, Dive (into the air) and Kick: http://www.divekick.com/ - it's surprisingly good and doesn't require any combos.

Its because ordinance is still a word.
However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.

I was completely turned off from the game the moment they added special actions to the characters. It was supposed to be about diving and kicking, god dammit.

Soul Calibur IV and V are pretty cool.

Street Fighter X Tekken was actually a decent fighting game brought low by huge amounts of DLC, most of which should have been part of it to begin with. You can get it pretty cheap these days, and worth the $20 or less it goes for if you like fighting games. It was developed with tourney and pvp almost solely in mind, so single player is pretty shallow.

Still, it is pretty coll to see the Tekken characters in SF4 form, and I look forward to seeing the mirror game that PredaKhaine linked to.

If you like brawler games with more than just a fight between 2 players PlayStation All Stars is pretty decent. It definitely has a change of pace from the typical life-bar/percentage damage games and having 3 unique supers per character is fun. I would avoid playing stock games though if you're playing with more than one person because it can take a while to kill one another if you don't know how to play or if you both are really good with your characters; everyone else typically is stuck watching so timed games or ones with kill limits allow everyone to get stuck in with more tension thanks to additional pressure to try and get the lead before the time ends/kill limit is reached.

Do you guys have people to readily play against? Over the years, since goldeneye really, I've slowly lost any sort of competitive friends. I picked up mk9 and slightly regretted it because, even though the game is fantastic, I have absolutely no friends who ever want to play it, and the online system for it is pants.

Street Fighter III Third Strike Online is a staple for me. I also dig MVC2. The Soul Calibur games are pretty fun. I like 4 a little better than 5.

Oh I of course forgot to mention Persona 4 Arena! That one has easier to do special moves and combos as well.

All the special moves are either 236 or charges, but the combos aren't any more simple than any other fighter. The default autocombo each character has may make you think that, but it's definitely not the case. A lot of characters autocombos are really bad. Sure, Mitsuru is braindead easy (just poke everything from across the screen and win), but characters like Aegis, Brosuke and Elizabeth demand a lot of competence to play at their maximum potential. Hell, Elizabeth's combos are all ridiculously difficult, and playing her at any decent level requires masterful execution of them (better yet, it's not like you even get anything good out of it, since she's just such an awful character anyway. Doesn't mean I don't love her and won't play the hell out of her though).

Also, coming in the near future is the next Guilty Gear sequel. And it looks bloody amazing so far. It's from the same guys that made Blazblue and P4A, their original baby. One of the most technical fighters out there, it's also one of the most insanely fun too. The third major sequel in the series looks absolutely gorgeous to boot.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom is pretty awesome.

A Heretic may see the truth and seek redemption. He may be forgiven his past and will be absolved in death. A Traitor can never be forgiven. A Traitor will never find peace in this world or the next. There is nothing as wretched or as hated in all the world as a Traitor. - Cardinal Khrysdam, Instructum Absolutio
