So now it is going to be what you would prefer for HQ choices that will decide which chapter would work best for drop pods :/ Someone needs to play test this from both armies to get a conclusion!

It is also important to point out that Salamander Dreads will benefit from Velkon and his TL Melta rule unless I'm not reading it correctly

I tried this vs Tau, twice.

Got tabled T2 on game one and tabled T3 on game two. It needs more bodies and to deploy closer to the enemy so they can't get you with large blasts (unless they want to fry their own troops).

Never gave a thought to Ultramarines and Drop Pods.

Might give them a look.

The answer for Tau is lots of bodies in as many Drop Pods as possible. I was able to fit x2 Dreadnoughts, x1 Kitted out Sternguard Squad and x4 TAC Squads (three of x6 man, one a full squad) bringing 4 Drop Pods in turn one. I was able to squeak out a win just because of the amount of bodies I had on the table.

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.
40k/HH Night Lords 5000pts.
Orks Waaaghmacht Spearhead 2500pts.
