Subject: The Central Empire- a few questions about terra and the surrounding regions

Grey Knight Psionic Stormraven Pilot

As the title suggest, just a few questions about Terra, and the Empire's "homeground":
- Are worlds that are closer to Terra safer?
- Are worlds that are closer to Terra richer?
- Are there any descriptions of the life at the Schola Progenium?
- Are there any descriptions of the lifes of typical imperial nobles?
- What are some worlds which are renown for being rich (e.g. high amount of stormtroopers)?
- Are Bionics still a thing? (seeing how most mentions of them have been either cut down to the grizzly stuff (flagelants), Astartes (Iron Warriors), or old Codici's (Straken).

Yes. Night Lords once launched a raid on some planet near Terra and the Imperium freaked out. This indicates it doesn't happen very often.

Dunno
- Are there any descriptions of the life at the Schola Progenium?
It's pretty much described as an old-fashioned religious prep school. Also Eisenhorn had sex with a chamber maid there. So there's that.
- Are there any descriptions of the lifes of typical imperial nobles?
Fantasy Flight Games stuff has a lot of this I think. It's mostly that they're rich, corrupt, and all-around nasty people.
- What are some worlds which are renown for being rich (e.g. high amount of stormtroopers)?
Ecclesiarchy worlds like Ophelia VII are described as being very wealthy. I don't understand the Stormtroopers part.
- Are Bionics still a thing? (seeing how most mentions of them have been either cut down to the grizzly stuff (flagelants), Astartes (Iron Warriors), or old Codici's (Straken).
They're very much a thing and anyone with status/power in the Imperium gets them so they can live longer.

1. Quite possibly yes. Segmentum Solar and especially Terra are well guarded afaik, and any world would at least profit from the large and mainly uncontested navy presence. Most of the biggest war theatres are further away.
2. Personal opinion: Statistically speaking, yes, because they would have been colonized and rediscovered earlier. Differences between worlds are generally huge though, so you will have gaksack backwaters in the core, too.
3. No idea.
4. Well, there are a few tids and bits about how certain individuals live, for example in the “Eisenhorn “ and “Ravenor “, but in that case the info would fit on two pages or so...it's hard to find anything not related to war or conspiracy.
5.How do the ST connect to the wealth of a planet? They are not part of regular army regiments afaik. Apart from that, sector and subsector capitals are known to be rich.
6. They are thing. Regularly guard can get replacements in “Gaunt's Ghosts “, very wealthy people can afford augmentations for them or their personell.

"The Crozius is the Imperium in a nutshell: pitiless authority, unquestioning zeal, and half understood technology encased within the form of a beatin' stick."

Certain planets near Terra are likely to be richer, as the Adeptus Telepathica has a deal worked out whereby they provide crew for the Black Ships rather than having to pay a Tithe. (from the latest BRB appendicies)

Bionics.

A lot of information is available on the wiki and on the lexicanum, including the lives of nobles (just look up various planets, particularly those from FFG books), etc. It'll take a lot of digging to get it all and is really too much to explain here.
Of course, they ARE wikis, so their credibility will never be 100% true, but Warhammer "canon" is supposed to be loose, anyways.

Yes, the planets near Terra are safer for obvious reasons... but from Chaos and Xenos only. The closer you are to Terra, the more watchful the authorities are for herecy and mutation, so any little sign of doubt detected on you will buy you a one way ticket to the local Inquisition HQ.
Are the worlds richer? Define richer. But I do agree Ecclesiarchy worlds are richer in currency, while others are rich in natural resources, population, etc.
Think Catholic school for the Schola Progenium.
The rest has already been answered well, good questions.

Safer yes, although the DE did launch a raid on Mars to grab a particularly tasty artifact, and to prove it could be done.
Overall they are probably richer than average, you are going to have some extremely poor/backward worlds near terra and you are going to have some extremely rich/advanced woulds far away from terra.
although my understanding is that the pacificus sector is also rather rich and safe.
