They can easily be both "official" for tournaments and at the same time "non-canon" for those who care about Warpath's crappy fluff.

Yeah, rules made by the company = official. Homemade rules (like my blood ravens) = unofficial. Then it's just up to the TO as mentioned earlier whether they want them available or not. Official rules just results in smooth friendly games as you don't have bickering about imbalanced house rules which is always nice.

Precisely, and nobody sane ever suggested that Martians would actually be included in Warpath fluff.

If they do actually have something written in to "explain" them in WP, it'll be something along the lines of "Oh no! A warp rift has opened in time and space and a bunch of big head Martians have started attacking the Corporate sectors. The corporation will have to I lease their enforcers to deal with this threat. No cow will be safe from being lit on fire!!" Or something to that extent. Extremely tongue in cheek, and good for a random event, but after said event is done, the story is done. The WP universe will be unaffected (except seriously well done burger patties) and life will go on. No big deal. MA will not become actual fluff in the WP universe.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

The little of the WP fluff that exists is quite good, I like how essentially the human forces are not a kingdom/tyranny etc but made up of various business corporations and when they encounter a new race they take them over by business deals and if they don't accept the deals they get crushed. I like how the Orxs are not a mindless rampaging mob but have an organised mercenary lifestyle.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

I agree that the Warpath fluff is really good. I can't wait until there is more!

Grot , the crossover comics are generally a good read - apart from the KISS one at least IMO.

The Popeye one is surprisingly good if you remember the original black and white cartoons, as the characters are all there, plus you get the proper 1962 version of the robots not the sleek IDW 2013 versions.

Mantic have a great potential in the MA KS, as the terrain alone gives the product such a wealth of crossovers into other wargames. Cheap modular ruins? Isn't that what WW2 and post Apocalyptic gamers have been looking for, for a long time?

Mantic could get a tie in with Warlord for their popular Bolt Action rules and perhaps get the door slightly ajar for a Judge Dredd crossover - albeit I do not know if the fugures would be a good match.

There's a $90 will of man early bird just opened up.. great if anyone on here wants to just dip their toe in to pick up the boxed game and the KS exclusives/ few other bits without putting down a bunch of cash.

Edit: Gone.. quite popular those, I think a lot of people just want that smaller pledge for this.

11 BotB pledges still open if anyone does want to go bigger or switch from alien abduction.

Definitely a fan of BotB, right now it seems like I can get at least one of everything I want with a little room to wiggle. Getting tired of having too many soldiers laying around whining to get painted, so I likes me the extra credit for more yet varied things.

Having official tournaments with them is about the same them being in the Canon. This should be special event material only.

Period.

It shouldn't be a permanent fixture to the Warpath scene.

Just read the update:

Up to tourney organizers to add them or not. Not part of Canon.

Solid. That's all myself and some others were asking for. Someone was mentioning using Tau, well, now you have some "Martian" stats to hook them up with for super casual games.

MA-Dreadball team looks good.

Bit too expensive with postage, so I'll probably pick one from FLGS after the release.

DB team looks neat I'll get it if I have credit, then I'll have to nab a retail dread ball

THe DB team look good for general use in MA anyway, unarmed maintenance or supply troops. The runners could have a use as panicked Martians.

Can already see a capture a martian specimen scenario, perhaps?

Agreed. I don't own DB but I wouldn't mind spending $20 credit on these guys.

New terrain stretch goal at $485k for intact scenery.

Also, they've come up with a new recommended $300 loadout to fill up your credit with tons of stuff and new bundles:

Sign me up for 25-50 of the intact stuff for fun. And probably apocalypse unless its too much (doubtful).

Sign me up for some actual pictures of the intact stuff! (ie exactly what you get). Actually, the same applies to the ruined buildings as well...

Meh, I saw what the deadzone stuff looks like, I'm good. I wouldn't complain if they did (if would be preferable, of course), but I'd like to see other things too.

Meh?

I'm not quite ready to trust Mantic that much at this point.

I'm cool with that. Maybe 2 for proper fire teams or w/e people are asking after? I think it will be a fun update to add versatility to the soldiers in MA and DZ, and they could be ignored in squad based games that didn't have the option for such a thing.

@alpharius I've already pointed out that until I have proof in my hands to the contrary that I'll be overwhelmingly (annoyingly) positive about all of this. You have every right to want pictures of the layout and or completed production pieces, I'm just choosing not to worry about it personally

I think one SAW for a Fireteam, two for a Squad. I'm happy that Mantic try to make their backers happy. :-)

This should be the contents of the intact sprue, only there will be 6 tiles rather than four and some other bits/ extra connectors:

$25 for 4 sprues, $50 for 8 sprues + accessory sprue.

Base game comes with 2 sprues of the ruins, the entire 2 sprue's worth is pictured on mantic's demo boards.

I have to say, I think a little more could have been done with the terrain, most notably a small clear plastic window sprue... in fact, that would have been nice for deadzone, too... easier to hand-wave away with deadzone though by saying that holo-windows existed rather than glass and they went out when the power failed.

Agreed clear plastic would have been nice, but not essential. Perhaps further down the road we can pester Mantic into an upgraded version?

Good news that the SAW requests have been answered now and the front page is getting a revamp. Also like the AI deck and even as an add on it will not break the bank.

Just wonder if Mantic have learnt from earlier games and this time the cards will be decently thick and not the lightweight ones of the past

Still see plenty of value in this already and hopefully the last week will open up some more goodies
