My friend is painting a CSM army and I thought I'd do something for his rhino with my space wolves bits box.

The full model isn't anywhere near done yet, there will be chains under his arms to make sense of the pose. The whole idea is that he has been put on there and could well be kept alive as a form of torture, however his face is a lot more pale than my usual paint job to give the effect of his blood draining away. The casualty himself is finished and I will post pics of the rhino when the whole thing is complete and the "trophy" is hung on properly. My modelling and painting is done and now my mate has to get his butt in gear!

Mabye put a chain holding his head upright. I like the idea. But if you're gonna stick him on the front. There should be a bunch of spikes with heads from maybe previously "tourtured" marines all over the vehicle. It should be a vehicle that strikes at the heart of all marines that see it.

@ FLEETWOLF
I also have a SW army (actually 2 but I'm in the middle of painting a new one) which works as a horde.
2000 pts:
Njal
10 wolf guard termies
60 grey hunters
10 long fangs
Therefore I have a lot of spares to make casualties with and thought that I'd give it a go. I also went out to offend myself!

I'm thinking of doing some as objective markers, but finding a suitable raven for Njal? No hope!

Hmmm.... Pale doesn't cut it. It still looks like he's roaring a battle cry.

Throw some red on the face, especially in some nice, blotchy ways around the nose and mouth, and he'll look more dead.
Also, if it's in any way possible to remove the head and reattach it at a wrong, floppy angle, that would be great.
For reference, I'll direct you to one of the heads I added to one of my CSM trophy racks. It's just a regular old catachan head, but the face blood and unnatural angle makes it look trophier.
... well, of course, and the fact that it's a head on a stick, impaled through the eye, but you get the point.
Actually, that might help the effect as well. Perhaps if you did some battle damage to the face, or had something sticking out wrong. Like, for example, you could have it so that a spike was protruding from his mouth, so that the reason that the head was being held erect was because the base of his skull was jammed onto a spike that came out through his mouth (or eye, or something), and that's what's pinning him on.

I like it, great job, it looks like he is freshly impaled.

Aw man, I know it's too late now but that would have looked even cooler if the spike was going through his open mouth instead! Food for thought for the next one, I guess.
