I made this conversion years ago, but of course there are no rules for a dread with
TL plasma cannons so I decided to come up with some stats and fair and balanced points costs for the model to run a fluffy
LoTD dread in friendly games.
I wanted to follow the
LoTD theme from the new codex as closely as possible and create a unit that is incredibly tough to kill( because it's a Dread and it's a ghostly spectre) but balanced by points cost so it's not considered cheesy.
Damocles the Ancient
--------------------------------------------------[ Armour ]------------------------
235 Points
-------------------------------
WS---
BS---S---F---S---R---I---A---
HP-----------
---------------------------------5-----5----6---12-12--10--4--2----3------------
Wargear:
- Power fist with built in heavy flamer
- Twin linked plasma cannon
- Search light
- Smoke Launchers
Special rules
- Aid unlooked for
- Fear
- Flaming Projectiles
- Slow and Purposeful
- Unyielding Spectre (5++)
- Venerable
- It will not die
It's a venerable dread with a heavy flamer so that covers the base cost, I decided the
TL plasma cannon should be 5 points more than a twin linked las cannon since it's a unique weapon. I added 80% to the base dreadnought cost for the extra
LoTD and other special rules, +80% is relatively close close to what a
LoTD marine pays for the special rules over a normal marine.
I decided to stick to special rules only available in the codex already and not give it any silly
OTT powers to keep it balanced.
So what do you all think? Would you play against this in a friendly game or do you think it's undercosted/broken in any way and what would you suggest changing?
