I was looking through google images the other day when I encountered this:
Now, I think Fulgrim came first (correct me if I'm wrong). But, out of curiosity, I searched this mysterious Sephiroth and encountered this:
Yeah, the white-haired pretty boy thing correlates.
But this got me thinking - are there any other 40k characters with anime counterparts? I figured the perfect place to put this request would be dakka.
To get the ball rolling and prompt some responses:
1. Fulgrim + Sephiroth Both of these kids are white-haired pretty boys with a character design that emphasizes their grace and agility.
Coupled with the curved silhouette of their armor, it's no wonder that someone already drew a comparison between them.
2. Curze + Black Alucard
For anyone who has seen Hellsing Ultimate, Alucard's absurd levels of destructiveness are not a surprise. For those familiar with both Alucard and the Curze, the connection shouldn't be a leap.
For those who are unfamiliar with Alucard's Blood Knight status, I recommend youtube. Just youtube. Any video featruing the character should do it. I especially recommend the one with the elevator...
When I say "Black" Alucard, I am not referring to the character's ehtnicity - his pale skin, ragged black hair and blistering red eyes remind me of Kurze a lot. No, I'm referring to the scenes where Alucard ramps up his "control level" - deacitvating a set of arcane wards built into his clothes, and thus shedding layers of clothing - until he's in his "black" outfit, which mosstly consists of a black staightjacket. To be honest, if I had to picture Kurze on Nostramo prior to the Emperor's arrival, I'd picture this. Near the end of Hellsing Alucard dons a suit of medieval plate armor, the enormous pauldrons of which certainly mimic Power Armor, if not in color.
So, anyone else got anything? Get posting!
Also, if anyone knows how to resize images from the web...I'd appreciate it...
There's fan-art of everything in 40K done in Anime styles. Google Images and Deviant Art will... well, they'll certainly lead you to places you'd rather not go, but there is where you will find all that sort of stuff.
It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

GW clearly went forward in time and ripped FFVII off

Actually, its more of a symbolic reference to have an angel with a single wing.
Has nothing to do with neither sephiroth or fulgrim Either way, the fulgrim pics came 1st

Sisters of Battle often get the anime treatment, often making them something a lot...cuter instead of bad---.

Before it inevitably becomes porn, anyway.
I like to imagine Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star is Rogal Dorn before the Emperor found him. It only makes sense for a dude who can make people explode by punching them. In all truthfulness, I wouldn't expect there to be an cross-pollination between GW and anime, aside from some anime influences in the Tau mecha suits and the like. GW is run by a bunch of 40-50something year old British guys, who aren't exactly the prime demographic for anime. Fulgrim and Sephiroth both being prettyboys with white hair is just a coincidence.

And the new FW version is pretty damn good
That was a joke.

Spoiler:
Aaaaaawwwwww, who's the cute lil' SoB that's burning Heretics all day long and loving it?
I'm a sucker for all 40k anime-style related stuff. Lolicron remains as one of my favorites (Yes, I know, not exactly anime inspired nor do I think any is besides the Tau's Mechs), here represented with the Blood Angels (Spoilered because the image is huge):
Spoiler:
I kinda wanted to show where my previous avatar pic was from, but many results from searching for "Lolicron" on google were... well, let's say NSFW
