I was checking out vanguard veterans in the new codex just now and realised something utterly stupid to do

They can take any melee weapons
So I figured "lol, give them all a powerfist...no! two each!"
and jump packs, and storm shields.

5 of these guys are almost 500 pts!!!
And you can give them all plasma/graviton pistols for even more sillyness.
10 of these guys are a freaking small army worth of points.

No way in hell this can be worth it right?
What you get is jump pack marines with 3+ 3++, 2 attacks base (+1 for two specialist weapons, right?)
Hammer of wrath on the charge, and then initiative 1, s8, ap2.

Well, I'm amused, guys costing about 50-60 pts each is pretty bonkers right?

No, it's absolutely not worth it.

But, on the bright side, in 5th edition, you could sink even more points in to them for even less benefit!

(Also, last edition you could kit out your Honor Guard to be 65 pts apiece.)

Yeah, go figure xDDD
it's pretty insane, I recounted and got them up to 75 ppm, 80 if you give them melta bombs for extra silly points wasting.

If anyone ever tries this stupid thing, I want to know the results, lol.

Death Company probably have you beat at 95 PPM with double TH and Jump Packs in 30-man blobs.

Kinda wondering how you would use any of that extra wargear with two power-fists. Where are you putting that Stormshield? How are you throwing that grenade? How is that grav-gun or plasma pistol fitting into your giant, lightning-wrapped paw?

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Also you would not get the bonus attack due to the stormshield so there is no need to take two powerfists.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

If you don't have two stormshields on your point sinks you aren't even trying.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Because space marines are so customizable you can get some stupidly high points units, the worst offender are the death company, but I think black templars used to be able to take a 1000 point command squad

We're watching you... scum.

Don't forget their dedicated transport with hunter killer missile, extra armour and everything else it can possibly take!

...but yeah, Death Company have got this one sussed. Double thunder hammer jump packs all the way!

Yeah, nothing beats a 3000 point troops choice for being dead weight. Of course it will obliterate anything it manages to catch.

Don't forget...a 3000 point Troops choice THAT CAN'T SCORE. You're relying on one horribly outnumbered unit to kill everything in the enemy force, and it has so much overkill it won't even stay in combat with anything for more than one turn.

Mutilators...that is all. Every point and penny wasted. At least with VV you get some gorgeous models.

If you bought mutilators it's your own fault.
