Played this game Friday night at a mates house. We both play 125pt games, he fielded Darth & Marek, both with Expert Handling and Clusters and a tricked out Kath. I had a Bounty Hunter with HLC, 5 Academy scrubs and a stock Turr.

Turn 3 was just insane. All the small ships (minus one of my scrubs who got smoked by Darth) and Kath were crammed into a corridor down my left of the table between 4 steroids and the table edge in a massive furball of lasers and collisions due to my very poor selection of maneuvers.

Last turn, Darth was all on his lonesome, with 1 HP left and -1 Agility facing off against my last 2 scrubs and the Bounty Hunter.

That fether managed to do the following. Roll 1 Evade and 1 Evade token my 2 hits from BH. Roll 2 Evade for the 2 hits from scrub 5 and 2 Evades for the 1 hit from scrub 2.

I love X-Wing because it's awesome. Is this thread going to turn into X-Wing anonymous? "Hi, I'm Brian and I have a problem." "Hi, Brian!"

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Probably not. Addicts are in denial. I KNOW I have a problem buying too many ships.

X Wing is pretty good, just discovered it probably a month ago.

Along with my discovery of Star Trek Attack Wing.

Wonderful, wonderful games indeed. I just hate painting and ending up to look pretty bad to start all over with my not-so-steady hand.

If there was some way to merge the two universes together.....And settle the hidden fan wars between them.....Like men....at a table board game...

Indeed.

All you need is one other player. I've found that people that were iffy on trying it when you ask hang around like flies when you actually start playing (especiaslly on a star map which I'd recommend you buy).

Wanted to give it some thought before I posted, but I thought this would be a good place to throw out my thoughts about why X-Wing is so good. First, it's Star Wars. A lot of the time that's all it takes to get someone into this game. Second, The flight pass system is amazing. You have to plot out every part of the game to build a solid list, not just how much damage can this do, or how well can that take damage. Third, learning curve. I've taught, this game almost as often as I've played. It usually only takes a couple of rounds before the other player(s) stop needing any sort of help, or ask questions. It's a really simple system to learn, not a lot of complex rules to look up every time they are used, or special senarios that show up every game. And that's with me teaching them to play with a TOURNAMENT LEVEL LIST!!!! Not just spamming basic pilots with torpedoes. That is far and away the best part of the game. It's a help at getting new players into the game. "I can teach you this game in 30 minutes or less." Wins over so many players. In fact the only flaw in this game right now is that it's nigh impossible to get ahold of the wave 1 ships.

I lov ehow the Pilot ratings determine movement sequence and shooting sequence. Simple yet effect method to show different skill levels.

We like the tactical depth of the game.

Its on multiple levels. Plotting the course, adjusting and anticipating the opponents moves, list building, and then implimenting those lists, the terrain, the missions, then there is the smack talk after the games!!

Do it! I've been pestering my girlfriend for 4 months and she finally gave in yesterday and LOVED IT! OK, maybe not that much enthusiasm but she definitely enjoyed it. Just watch the 12 minute video on how to play the game and play, that's all I did. It was my first ever game yesterday, too. It's easy and nowhere near as "nerdy" as 40k, which my girlfriend absolutely refuses to play lol

haha, I like your thinking but she loves the Ewoks and Jar Jar Binks, I don't think I want to see her in any of those costumes!

but getting her interested = major achievement. She thinks wargamming is for raging nerds, the first impression of Games Workshop in Preston didn't go down well, a load of spotty teens talking about power fisting each other, it left a deep wound. So that's how good Star Wars is, it converts heretics

me and my wife finally played a game of it ... was off to a slow start but after we got the basics down it sped up pretty well ... she had the tie fighters and me the x wing (she is an imperial girl so would not even think of using any other ship) ... needless to say i had both of her tie's down to 1 hull point each before she finally took my x wing out ...

all in all i would say it is fun .. and she seemed to enjoy it ...

I love X-Wing because you can play it on a bar!

In this pic, I just lost a tie bomber and am pretty sure the other can't make a tight enough turn to stay on the bar...

So after it ran away, I ordered a shot of whiskey as my reinforcements against the rebel scum... (Imperial Victory!)

Then, when one bar closes, you pack it up and play in another bar... (Falcon w/ everybody barely beat out a tie swarm, but i had the bartender rooting me on so maybe it was an unfair advantage...)

Then, when you get home, you can eat a chocolate dipped brownie from white castle without any regrets.

YAY X-WING!!!

Thanks,

MegaDave

There's many things I love about X-Wing.

The fact that it's Star Wars is a big part of it. The models are all good looking and require no effort on my part.

I love the way the flight path system works, with trying to guess what the other guy is going to do while I decide what I'm going to do.

But a big part of it, is that it feels like playing XvT again.

This is true! That said, I have repainted a few of them, well, ok, not so much repainted, erm... edited? I've repainted the A-Wing to a green stripe/engine covers instead of red (Tycho was in Green Squadron...?) and my TIE Interceptor has four red stripes on the panels

nice one!

I want to repaint some of my A-wings too for Green Squadron.

I like the ties, going to rely on the tie interceptor aces to add colour to my imperials lol

+1 for being able to go "pew pew pew" at a bar.

My son and I had a simple game over the weekend, 4 TIE's vs. Millenium Falcon. Between dodging asteroids and each other, we each got down to our last hull points. Lots of fun.
