I apologize if I somehow offended by my comment - you seemed shocked at the previous comment, and I am offering you insight as to why someone would suggest such - just as perhaps you seem offended by my comment - which would be unfounded, as I am sincerely trying to be helpful to you in pointing out that your question could give a particular perception - perception, especially given a lack of context on the internet - is reality.
Also, just as you were potentially offended by my comment - yours could easily be seen as a suggestion of something - so I thought the other poster's comment was reasonable, and was trying to give you an idea why.
I never said you suggested fraud....but I was pointing out why the very existence of the query leads to the questioning of the validity of the work.
It does not matter your intent (sincere or not) - here is a person pointing the possible subtle interpretations of it. Just because you may not like it, does not mean its not true.
So, in the future, I would suggest a bit more context in such a post, or maybe not make it at all.

You can suggest all you want this is a Q&A page and designed exactly for what i asked ...! To waffle on about who said this and that makes no never mind. I opened the thread up to start a debate .. and to suggest i maybe should not make a comment in the future on peoples work as it may offend them then i guess Dakka should shut dwn as that's one of the purposes of the site.

I understand Dave's point. Ill intentioned or not, finding a picture of a well painted model and then asking if it has been Photoshopped is doubting the validity of the work. It took me about 10 minutes to track down the artist that painted the model and establish that he is an extremely talented multi-award winning painter from Poland, clearly he doesn't need to cheat to produce a high quality product.

It is to constructively discuss painting and modeling.
Questioning the validity of someone's work (when a simple search shows that they are professional award-winning artist) is not being constructive. Whether you meant to or not, your framing of the original post calls in to question the validity of the work. If you had suspicions that the work was not legitimate, there are better ways to go about finding an answer. A simple, "Does anyone know who this painter is? I would like to see more of his work." is much better than, "Hey guys, is this Photoshopped or not????" The former is a simple way to find out more about the artist (which would quickly lead you to the information I gave you) while the latter could easily be taken out of context.

To be honest, I think the op had a legitimate question, and no where does the site state that the questions have to be constructive? The artist has achieved some blends that have an almost unreal quality to them. The op asked if they were genuine, and established that they were.
Why do some feel they have the right to dictate how other folk are allowed to speak on a flipping forum? That's control freakery.

Its painted, painted really well regardless of whether it has had computer aided corrections or not. Maybe some color adjustment, few suspicious burrs and fuzzes present which may indicate some ‘manual fix’ I guess but hard to say Photoshop or not as camera's alone can do wondrous things, they can also produce burrs. It’s incredibly hard to spot a photoshoped image which has only undergone minor color correction or changes if the editor is good, even if you have been working with PS for many years.
I would say painted with image color touches. Don’t think that’s unusual.
After note: I am more confident in the color touches after looking at the artists other photo’s. Some have more obvious indicators of computer aided image editing (other than background changes and logo's). I must stress though I don’t believe this to diminish his work, he’s obviously very accomplished, and after editing likely practised amongst many commision painters, like any product gallery.

Obvious photoshop is obvious. The saturation and contrast is off heavily. You can see retouches when zooming in and the places where they cut out the image.

Don't think it's bad taste. The photo looks like it's a long exposure which does add an effect to it and does sort of cheapen it for me even if he is a far better painter than I'll ever be

you may not care, unforgiven soldier, but you should realize that you make yourself look bad with these kind of responses...
"it's my thread" doesn't make you immune to people questioning your intention with this thread...
personally, after all the hours of hard work that i put into a mini, i would be offended if i saw my mini in a stranger's thread asking if i had "faked" it...
especially a stranger who can't even be bothered to credit the painter...
even worse, your gallery is full of other painters' minis which you have not credited...
you have not disabled voting, or addressed the fact that you didn't paint the minis in the comments...
you have the Imperial Fists Chaplian by Artur sitting on a 9.85, with about ten comments on what an amazing piece it is, and not once have you credited the actual painter...
same goes for Eric Chan's Space Wolves Dread, and a few others...
very bad form, man...
you may not care, but you really should give more respect to the painters who spend countless hours working, and honing the skills...

Considering nowadays when you put a photo up to sites that rate your painting skills such as CMON you will find yourself being rated down for any small issues. since this is the case it would be stupid to expect no photoshopping of some sort, even if like in this case it is just a cleaned up image.
hell even Dakka auto adjusts your image when you try to upload it.
the truth is when sharing miniatures online to be put under scrutiny you are going to want to show it in its best possible light.
that doesn't mean the painter cheated or there was any foul play involved.
i expect if you saw these miniatures in real life they would look just as good if not better.
also OP if you wanted to start a discussion or a Q&A then there is not need to be so hostile when they give you their opinion. unless your intent was to make people aware of you opinion that you think the painter cheated in which case you made your point and plenty of people have told you otherwise.

Jah i do care about the comments just not the individuals as he/she keep coming bck with comments to prevoke a arguement not about the model .. ! I never commented on the model my self i just wanted to know what other people thought...?
as for my gallery being full of other painters models i do believe its 4 diferent models so not exactly full to ..! you may have noticed i've never responed or took credit for the models ! i jst wanted to provide people with inspiration as they inspired me the images where found onine with no name or what they was called if you look through 1 of my thread i did ask about the mamouth in a post if any one knew where the model was from or who painted it..! if i claimedhe models then credit or even suggested i painted or had anything to do with the models then your comment of bad form would have grounds of credibility.. if i didn't care i wouldn't reply and if i didn't have respect i wouldn't take the time to share or post the painters work but like others have commented some think it's been photoshopped others don't my opinion is still private ..

You have been the most argumentative person in this thread thus far even after the "yawn, this bores me!" bit from earlier and let everyone know that you "have a life" and can't be bothered to engage with people who disagree with you all while telling someone else they were pretentious. Huh?
You brought up the subject so you can't deny any kind of personal responsibility when people take issue with what you said. This isn't your thread, it belongs to everyone here. Jah is right, you have pictures in your gallery that aren't yours with no credit to the artist. Poor taste, my friend. This thread probably needs to die.

And some, I assume, are good people." |

@unforgiven soldier - As Scooty has said, it is by no means your thread. You were cordially accepted by this community onto our (by that I mean all members of Dakka) website and it is only by Yakface's (The Owner) leave that you are allowed to remain - after all, he's paying for the domain name's fees. This thread, although it is your words, exists to engage and target the rest of the community - otherwise you would not have posted it. I suggest you think more on your manners and conduct when conversing with other mature members of this site before you continue with this particular thread. The problem is not the topic of the thread - you do have leave to ask questions like this on Dakka. The problem is regarding the manner in which you are asking such questions. Being as blunt as asking 'Is this Photoshopped?' is rather degrading to the painter who has invested a great deal of time and effort into painting this mini. Rather, you should be presenting your question along the more tactful lines of 'I've found this fantastically painted mini, but I'm a little unsure as to whether it has been enhanced in any way?' That way, you preserve the painters dignity, by accepting it has been painted to a high degree, but you are able to find out, in the politest possible terms, whether or not it has had a 'helping hand'?
It doesn't help that in places, your personal grammar has made your posts less than comprehensive:
unforgivensoldier wrote:the images where found onine with no name or what they was called if you look through 1 of my thread i did ask about the mamouth in a post if any one knew where the model was from or who painted it..!
I'm not going to pick through that one sentence, but one of the core rules of Dakka is that you make your posts as comprehensible as possible. I'm not wanting to have a go at your English, as it may be for personal reasons, however, not all of Dakka's members speak English as a first language, so poor grammar makes it harder for them to understand the post - and makes it more likely that they will mis-interpret the intent of your post. It's less excusable for yourself as, being a member of the United Kingdom (Indicated by the profile flag), you should in any case be speaking English better than others on this site. Text language and the lack of spell-checking is really inexcusable in a mature website such as this.

Grammar aside, you've conducted yourself in a very immature manner. It's "your" thread, so you can do anything with it?
Have you never used the internet before this at all?
Also, not crediting an artist and NOT correcting the people who thought it was your work is just as bad as taking credit for it.

Putting other peoples stuff in your gallery, and letting people vote on it is pretty shady.

Well, I think to prevent any further embarrassment or discomfort for the OP this thread should probably be locked. We've established that the model is not Photoshopped and I think that's all that needs to be said...
