Of the options listed, which would you like to see in 40k?

I think the Mechanicum would be pretty cool. It'd give them a chance to expand the fluff beyond "dudes who're half robots".

The plural of codex is codexes.

I believe that forgeworld is handling the mechanicum and i cant imagine there being enough custodes to make a whole codex so my vote goes to Arbites

Shoot, son. If the Custodes have their own army, that means everyone's on the Golden Throne's doorstep and gak's really going down.

Space Wolves: 3770
Orks: 3000
Chaos Daemons: 1750
Warriors of Chaos: 2000

You could probably stretch the fluff enough to allow them to respond to threats in the solar system rather than just terra itself.

Still, seems kinda like things would need to be a lot more FUBAR than they already are. I vote mechanicum, mostly so I can have a Skitarii army.

The Sol System is a fortress already though. It makes the Cadian gate look like an open door. You'd have to have a titanic amount of plot advancement to get a force far enough to be a major threat to the system.

Squats. Bitches love Squats

Arbites would be part of another Codex and so would Mechanicus.

Squats are the only valid option

The community is a great place to come for tactics advice, and there is a lot of very sound opinions and idea out there, but at the end of the day, play the game how you want to... Don't worry about the hordes of Dakka descending on your gaming club to arrest you for taking one heldrake or not using a screamerstar. Knowing the standard opinion (and that's all it is) on what is good/bad and conforming to that opinion religiously are two entirely separate things.

Gotta go with Squats.
I know nothing about the Arbites so cannot make a judgement call on that. As already pointed out Forgeworld has the Mechanicum under control, and if the Custodes are fighting the IoM is really screwed (though making them a special unit for IoM would be kinda cool). If GW was to do some Xeno nonsense, they would need new fluff, new models, new rules, it would be starting completely from scratch (unless it was Zoats. Bring back the Zoats!).
That just leaves the Squats. They already have fluff. They should have the molds for the models. All they would really need to do is update the rules.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I would still like to see a proper Inquisition codex, with all ordos rolled in together and given equal attention (with grey knights being more sensibly concieved).

Admech seems like the obvious choice for a new codex, regardless of what FW are doing. Either that or go down the Tau root of plucking something straight out the air.

Supplements on the other hand, I feel could be used to do something far more interesting that what they do now, which is to create small armies, largely modifications on existing armies, that might not work on their own, but would be excellent allies. Think Eldar exodites and pirates, genestealer cults (that could ally with guard or tyranids), Ork Freebootaz, Chaos renegades (traitor guard and cultists), and more!

THE LAAAAH?

Though now that I think about it, Arbites would be tough to implement in a full on battle against vile heretics/xenos scum.

Even though Squats are the obvious choice, Arbites would be great as a supplement and so would [INSERT FILTHY XENO SCUM HERE]

I think bringing back space-centaurs would be cool.

Some xeno nonsense.

Too much IOM in this game already...

Failing that Arbites. They don't really work as a 40k army, but I love the models

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

This. The game already has way too much stuff for GW to keep up with, the last thing we need is another garbage codex rushed out to sell models that nobody wants.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

How would Arbites work as an army? They are less well-trained and equipped than Guardsmen, while also being less numerous. An Arbites codex would be an IG codex with less options, worst stats and higher points costs.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

IF Games Workshop was able to keep their updates on a timely enough manner (including FAQs) AND they felt that they really needed another codex, I think an AdMech army has consistently been the fan fave. I would absolutely loathe something like that, but I'd prefer they go with something that the majority of my friends and associates would want.

As far as I'm concerned, if you're going to do a new codex, do a NEW damn codex. Something we haven't already seen.

Arbites are recruited via the Schola Progenium and are run through the same basics as potential Sister Novicates, Storm Troopers and Commisars.
Adeptus Arbites are more akin to Sisters or Storm Troopers, albeit with more training in crowd control and non-lethal combat then open warfare.

An Arbite army would still be small and odd but they would outclass IG in equipment and statline.
They'd work best as an ally-only supplement dex.
