Hi guys I wonder if mutilators are worth to buy? or do they suck like most people say.

If you say they are worth to buy tell me how to use them.

I would rather buy Obliterators. I like the look of the models for Mutilators, but in play they are horrible.

I don't know if they suck as I have never played them but they could be a good assault unit when stuck into a land raider with a termi lord. Expensive but hits like a train with the right mark and VOTLW.

Alternatively, 1 or 2 of them could make useful distraction units for backfield enemies like long fangs. Deepstrike a nurgle marked mutilator in their face and they are forced to deal with it, giving the rest of your army a turn or so of grace to close with them.

They are a very flexible unit with the right melee weapon to handle any target. I will likely try them in my Iron Warriors some day, but I prefer obliterators personally.

They are overpriced and/or bad. If assault centurions work out well for SM's, you could counts-as them by playing your list with SM rules. It looks like they suffer a similar problem however. SO basically just avoid them I think sadly.

I have 3, but I got them for ~$4 each so it was worth it. Haven't used them though ; p

They're just not worth it. Yes, they're good in CC, but it's actually getting them there that's the problem: Deep Striking is your best option but means you have a turn of being shot up before you can do anything, and easy for the enemy to back off out of range; you can't foot-slog since you're SnP and therefore can't Run, and taking a Land Raider as a transport is another £40/250 points spent on a rather mediochre unit. That, and the models look like some sort of Chaos-abortion, you're best off with Obliterators 99% of the time.

They suck epicly.

Expensive assault unit that cannot sweet, can be swept(not fearless), has no grenades, no champion to manage challenges, only a 5+ save, vulnerable to ID, vulnerable to hordes(only3 attacks), and no good delivery options(chaos doesnt have good landraiders).

Yes, they suck, but you don't have to take my word for it. Take a look at the above thread.

Edit: I just googled ablutions and apparently it does not including dropping a duece. I should have looked it up early sorry for any confusion. - Baldsmug

Wait, what were we talking about again? Did I ever tell you about the time I gave you five bees for a quarter? That's what you'd say in those days, "give me five bees for a quarter", is what you'd say in those days. And you'd go down to the D&D shop, with an onion in your belt, 'cause that was the style of the time. So there I was in the D&D shop..."

I have a mutilator that I've converted. I like to run him by himself, Deep Strike him aggressively, and maybe disrupt something. 3/4 games he does nothing. 1/4 games he will get into combat with some fire support or a tank and disrupt my enemies formations a bit. Hes only 55 points, so not breaking the bank by any means.

Just never EXPECT him to do anything. He is mostly harmless. Truth be told.

I don't want to sound trollish but, yes, they suck!!!!! (exclamations to match question marks).

To be fair, the only person I played against that used them never wins matches anyway. I have never faced a real opponent that uses them.

I deep strike them as suicide units to destroy tanks and stuff. If the enemy doesnt dedicate an entire units shooting to kill them then they charge something heavy with four chainfist attacks.

Yes, most players find Oblits better value for the points. And most don't like the look of the models either
