One of the best web comics around, even if you've never played a fantasy RPG.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

Man, time flies, huh?

I've got the entire collection of books on my desk right now at work from sharing them with a coworker. Even if you never played D&D but played a game like... Neverwinter Nights or whatever, you'll get the jokes anyway. If you've never read this I'd heartily recommend it.

I've been reading that comic for that long?! God it feels weird to think about it in terms like that.

Also we can expect it to last at least another 4 years, as per Rich's latest newspost.

I really enjoyed that comic when it was more about the dungeons and dragons jokes and less about the plot. I have to say I also don't enjoy comics where the speech bubbles more often than not take up more of the panel than the visuals.

So, I just read the whole thing since Saturday. Great stuff! I really want to play D&D again now...

You need to check out On Origin of PCs, Start of Darkness, and Snips, Snails, and Dragon Tales. OOPs is the origin story for the Order of the Stick, Start of Darkness is about the development of Xykon, and SSDT is the adventures that were featured in Dragon Magazine.

10 years? Well now that I am thinking about it, the first comic was about the conversion to DnD 3.5, and that has been 10 years now since its introduction.

It is nice looking back now seeing how it has evolved over the years. Think I will dig my old Dragon magazines out and read the OOTS ones in the back as a number of those were still some of my favorite jokes.

I went back a few weeks ago and rereard the whole thing. It's amazing how early in the comic he was putting hints of what would be going on 8-10 years later.

Ha, just read the comic about the Mind Flayer getting arrested. Did they actually get in trouble for using D&D's IP?

Doubtful, Rich Burlew tried not to skirt those lines when he could the IP jokes were intentional, not to mention that Burlew submitted an entire campaign setting to Wizards in the same contest that gave us Eberron.

I think the jokes about the Mind Flayer (and Beholder) were because it was one of the "iconic" D&D monsters that wasn't included in the Open Gaming License.

Anyway, hard to believe it's been this long. I started reading around strip #25 or so.

I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method... is love. I love you Sheriff Truman." - Twin Peaks

As much as I loathe to thread necro, I came across this webcomic earlier today and marathonned it to the most recent update.

To anyone that hasn't read it, do so.

+1. It isn't easy to power though 923 pages of webcomic, but it's totally worth it.

Actually I have found it terrifyingly easy to power through hundreds of pages of web comic in a slow day at work.

Most of them aren't that as long, or as good, though.

There are quite a few good long ones though naturally tastes differ.
