I just finished a bottle of 7-star metaxa and 12-year-old canadian club, neither of which I'll be buying again.

My favourite is a good spiced rum, Sailor Jerry and Kraken are my current favourites.

I quite like sampling international lagers (although I'm not a fan of northern/eastern-european ones, they tend to be too yeasty-tasting for my palette), San Miguel and Asahi being at the top of the list.

I'm also partial to a tequila or two, but being from the UK and under 30, the only brands i've tried would probably be considered abominations against succulent plant-based spirit-kind

Best tasting whisky I've ever had was dalwhinnie, very nice. Normally I'm happy with something like Tullamore Dew or Jameson's. I'm no connoisseur of aqua vitae, so long as it doesn't made me wince when I first taste it, it's okay. Goes well with chocolate biscuits too.

Ahh, alcohol. So many options.

Generally if I'm drinking, it's a gin martini. Mostly because I always have the things to make one in the house. And both my dad and my father in law drink them, so if I'm drinking with them, it's what we're having. By preference, I'll take a milder gin (Miller's and Hendricks are my two favorites) but I drink a lot of beefeater and bombay sapphire as well. I enjoy mine with a twist, but olives are both fine and traditional. Just finished a jar of garlic-stuffed olives and enjoyed them. Replaced them with some blue cheese stuffed ones, and am less fond. The bottle of gin in the liquor cabinet right now is Halfmoon Gin, which I bought because it was local. It makes for a crappy martini, but I suspect would work fine in a gin and tonic.

I drink my fair share of rum as well. Normally in Dark and Stormies or rum & cokes. Kracken or Captain Morgan's private stock are both fine rums. But since I tend to drink rum when visiting down at my friend's place who has something like 30 different bottles, I try all sorts of different ones. We don't keep soda in the house, so the lack of mixers keeps me from drinking more rum then I do.

As someone who grew up in Kentucky, I feel compelled to keep a bottle of bourbon on hand. Currently it's Woodford Reserve. I'll drink a glass a couple times a year. Derby day and while watching the UofL/UofK game.

I lack the beer vocabulary to describe my tastes, but I like my beer medium to dark. Sam Adams, Killians, Yungling, Saranac, and Guiness are visitors to my fridge. I know I dislike "hoppy" and citrus beers. But I'll try most anything. One of my friends has started to bring a growler of something to gameing every other week or so to share, so I've been getting exposed to some odd stuff.

The Wife drinks corona's and cosmopolitans, so I'll have those with some frequency. The latest concoction I made for her was a shot of chocolate vodka in a glass of cran-rasberry juice. Like drinking a candy bon-bon.

I prefer Sambuca or Pina colada.

Recently I tried this thing called Twisted Tea from the beer store.... it tastes exactly like ice tea, but it's beer........ I can chug that stuff and it is an absolute pleasure

I'm an alcoholic, my answer to OP's question is simply yes.

I prefer stouts and lagers for beer
I appreciate a good hard cider (Angry Orchard for the win!)
I'm a big fan of a good Irish Whiskey and I appreciate a fine scotch.
I also can slum with rum any day of the week.

Hard ciders are excellent in hot weather. Went to the LA Ren Fair this year and had 3 cups of Raspberry Cider and it was amazing. That and RP'ing drunk is way more fun than sober.

Also, Kraken is the devil. I'd tell you all the terrible things I did on it, but when I try to access those memories my brain replies with a 404 error.

Man I haven't drank in almost 2 years now but when I did it depended "how" I was drinking. If it was cocktails it was either whiskey sours with jack or vodka/redbull/cranberry typically cheap vodka.

For neat drinks it was patron silver and only patron silver. Tequila is the only alcohol that didn't guarantee me a hangover the next day. Which is weird because the stigma is tequila is for getting destroyed.

And my beer of choice always changed but Sam Adams white ale, Oktoberfest, and winter lager were too choices. As was blue moon, yeunling (when I could get it, stupid no distribution in MA), and occasionally I'd step out to the Sam Adams "imperials" or other bee over the 10% mark.

This thread almost makes me miss drinking... Almost....

Beer: Guinness, anything from McMinnamins in Portland, oatmeal stouts, and if I'm feeling cheap, miller lite.

Hard stuff: tequila, margaritas, gin n tonic

Wine: don't really have a preference, but I'll drink most unless they're too dry.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Compared to other rums, it's a bit rough. It also made me black out, but it probably didn't help that my chaser was bubblegum vodka. I now avoid both of them like awkward ex lovers.

One of the most fun (yet also incredibly sad) things to do is buy a round of kraken shots, pass them round and make everyone shout 'release the kraken' in their best pirate voice before knocking them back :thumbsup :

I like booze.

Generally ale (ranging from light IPAs to the darkest, thickets stouts) if I'm out, although lager, cider, and wine do get consumed on occasion. For spirits, I'm a fan of single malts, got Aberlour, Laphroiag and Jura on the go at the moment, as well as a bottle of Buffalo Trace's limited edition oak cask stuff I bought while on honeymoon in Chicago a couple of years back. Port is good too, especially with cheese.

While I have had a few beers/ales from Europe that were pretty flavorful, I generally find beer/ale to be unpleasant. I'll have hard liquor on occasion, or mixed drinks, but mostly I am a wine drinker.

This thread reminded me to have a bourbon tonight. And then do some reaserch on what to drink while watching a godzilla movie. Unfortunatly, I lacked any ingredients, but rememberd that I had an old bottle of sake that had somehow managed not to turn into vinegar.

There is no bad day that can't be improved with a little booze and a godzilla movie.

And I'd be lying if I told you I was sober ATM.

If you're a bourbon fan I urge you to find a bottle of Elmer T Lee. It's my personal favorite.

Beer is too high in calories and other junk for me to consume when I want to get drunk. I don't drink alcohol with food or anything because to be honest, I don't enjoy the taste of alcoholic drinks. It has a sting and sour nastiness that I only tolerate when I specifically would like be disconnected from ree-al-it-ee!

When I do drink, it has to be liquor, as it's straight to the point and doesn't involve the loading that beer does. Vodka and rum tend to be my poisons.

As far as beers go, I prefer
-Yuengling Lager
-Blue Moon (wheat beers are my favorite)
-Guiness Extra Stout
And a few other microbrews. Though in a pinch I'll grab a 30-pack of PBR for $15

As far as liquor, I usually stick to Rum. Might try a few new things after reading this though...

I hate anise and IPAs. Anything else is great, and those two are both okay after my third drink.

Since the gov't shutdown I have moved to boxed wine, because it fits the vibe.

My favorite wine would be CabSav's, preferably from Chile or Australia and 4+ years old.

For late night sipping spirits while I read, a good bourbon on the rocks. Rowan's Creek was my favorite, but I haven't found it since I moved to Northern Illinois.

Im also a big fan of a whiskey called 'connemara' and a red wine called 'faustino'.

I've never overdosed on cider, like most people do in their late teens. I can't get the hang of beer.
So, as long as it's made of apples, and isn't supposed to be drunk 'over ice', I'll have it. Fizzy or still, yellow or orange (think Tango), or chewy or not , I usually don't care. No way I'm having Magners or the like. Blurgh.
I have family just a mile away from Thatchers' main plant, so I usually end up picking up a case or two. I'm ploughing through the majority of 40L of still traditional cider from my birthday. It only lasts 2 weeks in the keg, so I'm on 2 pints a night. Oh well.

Otherwise, wine. Usually white or 'other' fruit, mostly cherry or apricot.
Mead is preferred, but I'm wary of sherry-with-honey types. How hard is it to tell if it's proper mead, or just honey-wine?
