So I've recently fallen into this Star Trek attack wing, simply said, it's a great fun little game and I've fallen in love with it. The models come pre-painted but their quality is lack luster so I took the pleasure of painting over them with my own schemes! Tell me what you all think!

Nice job. That enterprise looks just like it does on the TV show. Could you possibly post some pics of what the originals look like so people like me who don't play the game have something to compare it to?

Here is the Negh'var in packaging. The green on it was glossy so I decided to paint over that.

And here is the starter kit with the Galaxy and Vor'cha (and the D'deridix).

However, don't let that dissuade you, this game is really quick, fun and the point system seems to be very balanced.

nice job, but the enterprise is actually supposed to be a very light blue. I think it was the color of a humming bird egg.

Was it really danpieri? Sure I always remember it being just a shade of grey..

Very nice job though in any case, big improvement on the original miniature!

The Starwars models are painted quite well, but i have to admit the Startrek ones are horrible beyond belief lol.

You did a great job making them actually look like they are suppose to be painted lol. Not much to paint on them to begin with since theyre so small, but still enough to make this paintjob a good one.

Excellent job on the repaints.

The reason why the Star Trek ships don't look near as good as the X-Wing ones is because Fantasy Flight Games simply used the Wizkids Star Trek ships from their HeroClix line.

The X-Wing ships were all new casts made for the game.

Its too bad as new sculpts of the Trek ships with the same quality as the X-Wing ships would likely have made this game as hot as X-Wing has proved to be.

Agree completely.. the ships in this thread are a great example of how good the ST ships can look with some work, but yes I think they really missed the boat with this one as a lot of casual gamers won't want to make that effort.

Absolute, minimum amount spent on the game possible, but ultimately you get out what you put in.

Actually FFG had nothing to do with it since they don't make the models or publish the game. They licensed the core X-Wing rules to Wizkids, who then decided to take the cheap option and re-release the same old mediocre models instead of making better ones.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

That being said I can agree that Wizkids took a lazy approch to this at start up and that they most definently need to do something to really up the antee to compete with X-wing. I've never played X-wing just because I'm fan of captial ships slugging it out and not single fighters but I can say this in Star Trek: Attack Wing's defense; it's fun. This system that X-wing and ST:AW uses is very nice, quick, and simple and the amount of time you take to try to determine what the enemy player is going to do in the manevuer step can be surprising.

The orginal paint scemes are horrid, but for the price of what you get I cannot complain. Every expansion is fun and for an average of $12-13 on Amazon I'm not going to complain on cost. I suppose I look at it as I would warhammer. I pay an outrageous amount of money for unbuilt high detail vehicles and miniatures, I suppose I can pay $12 for a Ship that I'm simply going to repaint .

And to the other person...FFG has nothing to do with ST:AW. They sold the liscening to Wiz kids.
