In 6th Ed., you can no longer do that. If you don't have anything on the table by the end of each game turn, you auto-lose (ha, you're actually considered tabled).

Because he would have been tabled and lost by default at the end of Turn 1.

IMO, your necron opponent lost because he didn't plan his endgame well enough. Sometimes, just leaving the board on T4 in hopes of a T5 contest/grab just isn't good enough. Sometimes, especially in Emperor's Will, you need to take the 2-step approach. That means 2 turns of maneuvering with the night scythe before dropping off the troops.

well played, although I feel the necron player should have brought the flyers on from more angles and more spaced out. Your list is very good at just turboboosting under the flyers.

Yes this is the risk of running an all flyer or heavy reserve list in this edition. Some people house rule it but in GT's the rule is clear. If you have nothing left at the end of a complete turn you are considered tabled.

That makes two of us. When I saw the match-up I was like . Then I saw the mission and was like holy . Him going second was just icing on the cake. It is literally one of those games you line up and just go through the motions because your not expecting to win. I am not one to lay over though and was gonna make him work for it. It just so happens in doing so that I actually managed to find myself in a position to win the game.

It is hard to move 9 flyers. With the way I deployed I think he wanted to maximize his effects in one area. In doing so he limited his 3rd turn of shooting. The first two he was fine but it left him now where to go. Had he come in from multiple angles for his first turn of shooting then he could of shot at me on more turns but also would of had less effects on his two main target area's my obj area and his.

See above message about the angles. As for the turbo boosting bit. I honestly thought that up on the fly to deny his flyers turns of shooting. My army is very mobile and with 12 AV, 4+ cover, and 2+ ignore pens it is very resilient. I just shut down and denied him the ability to kill me at the expense of having no offense. This marks the fewest models I have killed and still won a game.

Ergo why he lost. Like I said before, he didn't plan his endgame well enough.
Playing a Necron Airforce is actually harder than many would think. While it has a lot of firepower, because of the movement restrictions, it is also a finesse army as well. If you go into the game with a strategy of just kill everything that my scythes can see, that is how you can lose in a matchup like this. You need to hold back 1 or 2 night scythes and plan for them getting to the objectives. That means plotting your flight paths to the objectives come Turn 3 and 4 and anticipating what your opponent is going to do (or what he can do). Yes, that means the necron player may have to sacrifice on some of his firepower, but it's not like you were doing anything to his army anyways.
But you have to have a lot of discipline to play this army well. Oftentimes, it is just too tempting to try to shoot your opponent's army off the board and most of the time, the necron airforce can do just that. But once in a while, you meet an opponent whose army you can't really do that to. That is when you need to play with a little more finesse.

Well I am one of 5 undefeated. I make the top bracket. The army composition for the top bracket are as follows:
Necrons x 1
Daemons x 1
Tau x 1
eldar or eldar primary with tau allies x 5
My fifth round opponents army list is missing. I am trying to locate it before starting this rounds report as he had a lot of different upgrades. Also, I am kicking myself because after the conclusion of day 1 I realize I had FnP on the commander the entire time and never rolled it.

That unfortunately is the 6th edition. Space Marines failed to shift the meta, but we never believed they would as they couldn't be that far away from Dark Angels. It is going to be interesting to see what Orks and Tyranids can do. They won't be able to nerf the Wave Serpents by themselves and those work great against hordes. They _will_ hurt grav marines..
I was going to get rid of my Eldar thinking that as I have not been able to paint most of the stuff in 20+ years I never will Now I am thinking that I should get a third WS and a wraithknight instead. Huh..
Back on topic. Nicely done in the last game. Maybe your opponent thought early that he had this in the bag and then on turn 4 realized that he is losing. I thought his army was a bit too weak with its ground game.
Should be some interesting games still coming, but at the same time it would be fun to read someone's tournament report playing Orks or BA or anything but Tau/Eldar..

If I can't find the list tonight I will just post thw report tomorrow.
As for a different army I think I will be running the ugly misfits at the renegade open in two weeks. Necrons/ csm. My list is a perfect 12-0 in gt play. Just tryong to see if I want a unit of deathmarks in the list.

lol ya I am sure I can find a way to get the right graphics on there. The hard part is getting them to everyone else.
Well I cant remember who asked but someone in one of my reports asked for a report without Tau, eldar or a mix of both. Ask and you shall receive. This last weekend I went up the Renegade open in the frozen north of Minnesota. Report to follow on how I did with the not so ugly misfits.
As for closing up this report I should have some free time this week given that I am working this holiday weekend. Hope to at least finish this report or have the rounds summarized by sunday.

I think the wife threw away all of my notes for these games to include the army list for the remaining opponents. Here are the pictures and a brief summary of the games.
Round 5:
Opponent: FarDar
Deployment: Hammer and Anvil
Mission: Scouring
I managed to pull out a close win though the game only managed 3 turns. Between a rules dispute and the time starting for the round before doing any of the pre-game rolls and deployment it just ended before I even started my turn 3. Its inexcusable and I take most of the blame because I was the one questioning the charge where one model of a unit was used to charge two units to make a multi-charge against my broadsides and the riptide. It would been easier if we had waited for the ruling before moving the models though as then trying to remember where they all were was painful.
Round 6:
Opponent: Tau
Deployment: Vanguard Strike
Mission: Big guns never tire
This was a very close hard fought game and my opponent brought in a unit of kroot to each flank to bar my war walkers from getting on but they came later after a wave serpent was able to tank shock them off of one flank and I came in there. I had a couple of miss moves late in the game and my opponent played one hell of a game. He edged me out by 2 pts.
Round 7:
Opponent: Eldau
Deployment: Vanguard Strike
Mission: Standard Objectives
This was against my buddy Aaron Alleong. Aaron and I have only played once before in tournament play at the midwest massacre where he barely survived a late game rally. This particular game was very close as well as we went into the final turn with him have 14 VP. However, with some decent dice and a couple of things going my way I was able to edge him out in the end. Am looking forward to another round with him because technically he has beat me 2 out of 3 times because I played a side game with him at adepticon a few years ago where his wolves ate my guard for lunch.
Total results and analysis to follow later. Sorry for the incomplete on this. I can still post the pictures for each next to the rounds but with all my notes gone it makes it hard to get into a report.

Unfortunately, those types of arguments just happen sometimes. It's happened to me before as well and I tend to give my opponents the benefit of the doubt in most cases. The most you can do is to try not to get emotional and call the TO/referee over rather than wasting time arguing. People also need to remember that it is just a game and try not to take it too personally. Finally, if you find that it is your mistake (we all make mistakes), it is great sportsmanship to admit to your mistakes and to even apologize if you feel that you've acted too "strongly".
