How do fellow blood angel fans feel about the red thirst and black rage? Humbling quality that can help the chapter. or dooming failure that will bring about its end?

Both. Unless the BA or a successor chapter can find a cure it will eventually lead to their destruction. In the fluff it says the problem is getting worse as more battle brothers fall to the thirst. Mephiston and Lemartes are signs of hope but even Lemartes has still been badly effected by it and is only just in control of his rage.
Living with its threat forces an iron discipline on the angels yet can still benefit them in the heat of battle.
Personally I don't think the fluff focuses enough on the search for a cure. DA fluff focuses on their search for the fallen and salamanders on their search for vulkans artifacts. Yet BA fluff rarely mentions their search for a cure despite how imperitive it obviously is...

As always. A lot of haste and running about to do things without things getting done really. But corbulo does nothing but search for a cure so there is that.

I thought it was rumoured that the Lamentors had a cure or at least a way to control it?

"The lamenters have reportedly claimed the ability to cure their flawed gene-seed, though if anythingthe Chapter has undergone marked degeneration since their discovery, raising severe doubts as to the effectiveness of the 'cure'".
So they were wrong or traded it for something much worse...
They did love Huron a tad too much and have been on the fringes of the galaxy on a penitent crusade away from the eye of the inquisition...
Not that I would ever suggest anything corrupt about our honoured blood brothers.

They really do need to advance the story a bit so we can find out the fate of some of these chapters on penitent crusades.

The lamenters didnt find a cure they were created with the sole intention of isolating the black rage and red thirst genes and were created with a substantially less chance to succumb to it. But being a 21st founding chapter they were gifted not with mutations or flaws but with the worst luck ever. Literally losing 75% or more every engagement. After the badad war they were forgiven and sent on a crusade as penance. Nothing else has been heard since

Malakim: "Worry not, brother, our gene-seed is of the utmost quality now that the cure has been implemented. Things such as the red thirst and black rage are of no concern to us-"
Random Lamenter 1: "DIE HORUS, YOU TRAITOROUS SLIME!"
Malakim: "...As I was saying, we are in optimal condition to give these xenos a sound trashing, and our crusade is sure to-"
Random Lamenter 2: "WHERE IS THE BLOOD I WAS PROMISED?"
Malakim: "Settle down brother, it will be here soon."

The Blood Drinkers have taken to drinking lots of blood to control the thirst. There are some details and surprises in the The Death of Integrity book from the Space Marines Battles series. There's also an ebook The Rite of Holos that will probably have more detail. (Holos is the guy who got the chapter to start drinking blood. )

I see it the same way Chaplain Argastes does.
''The Inquisition and the Administration say we are weak because some of us have given in to the Black Rage - they are fools! The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!''
Of course, this might be because I'm simply a big fan of badass quotes that immediately grow hairs on your chest just from hearing them (take a look at the sig...)

The Red Thirst is everything I love about the chapter to be honest. The duality of natures is what makes the Blood Angels and their successors interesting.
Sanguinius was a unique primarch who believed everything had a hidden beauty that could be brought out. Outwardly he and his sons have a noble bearing and, for the Blood Angels at least, have passion for things outside of war and death. Baal is home to art galleries and aesthetic finery that they view to be a fundamental part of humanity. Then, on the other hand, the Red Thirst is part of a monstrosity within themselves that at it's fullest extent, the Black Rage, can cause a Blood Angel to be indistinguishable from an insane murderer.
The fact that Sanguinary Priests and Chaplains, respectively, embody each of these dual natures only heightens the cool of the Blood Angels.

The Red Thirst is why I like the Blood Angels as one of the only loyalist SM chapters. They are, as Algorithm said, both noble warriors and crazed savages, and they can suddenly change from one to the other in a heartbeat. They are riding the edge of Heresy, as some of their successor chapers have clearly shown that The Red Thirst can go out of control (Knights of Blood for example).
