I thought one of the selling points of the Torrent of Fire app was that you could browse real-time results etc, but as of 9.30 MST there are no games listed after game 5 and no winners/results/whatever.

Any more information of this tournament? Really interested to see who/what placed top 10 in the Invitational. Curious to see how the new Marines did.

Open winner was Dan May with his biker space marines. Grav guns, storm talons, and TFCs, I believe. I also heard he stole the initiative the last round and won in the first 45 min. A decent showing from armies in the open. I even saw a couple sisters players. Nurgle flying circus placed high, as well as Eldar in general. I believe a chaos marine player was way up there as well.

Invitational was littered with Eldar and Tau with a smattering of demons. Even though there were so many Eldar players, Eldar still held a near 75% win rate as a primary detachment (I'm sure they played themselves sometimes).

The best story is of Willingham, who had to win his way into to invitational on Friday then went on to finish second in the invitational.

Whats up with the complete lack of information on the events of the weekend. There apparently was a live video but it isnt posted anywhere atm. No top lists or anything anywhere by my search.

Is that normal?

Are you sure that is what you had?

What changed from the Nova? The Rangers and Spiders? Added a Wraithknight? What did you drop?

That's a strange question. Why would the FoB Invitational Champion not be sure of what he had?

Hey Guys,

I did end up taking best overall in the OpenGtT with a 5-0-1 record. I've given Reecius some articles to put up on his website about the event and my games.

The list I took was:
WHITE SCARS
Khan on Moondrakkan
Chapter Master on Bike, Artificer Armor, PF, Shield Eternal
Command Squad on Bikes w/ Apothacary
4 bikes w/ 1 Attack Bike w/ MM, 2 Gravguns, 1 Combi Grav
4 bikes w/ 1 Attack Bike w/ MM, 2 Gravguns, 1 Combi Grav
4 bikes w/ 1 Attack Bike w/ MM, 2 Gravguns, 1 Combi Grav
4 bikes w/ 1 Attack Bike w/ MM, 2 Gravguns, 1 Combi Grav
5 bikes w/ 2 Flamers
Stormtalon w/ Skyhammer Missiles
Stormtalon w/ Skyhammer Missiles
Thunderfire Cannon
Thunderfire Cannon

DARK ANGEL ALLIES
Librarian lvl 1 on bike, Power Axe
5 Scouts, Snipers, Missile Launcher, Camo Cloaks

I did indeed steal the initiative the last game (and my second game) and a few of the games I had were just terrible matchups for my opponents. I also was incredibly lucky in my Draw that the game ended on turn 5 or it would have gone on to a Loss (the longer it went).

I had a terrific time at my first GT out of the Bay Area!

Congrats, Dan, to a job well done!

How are you liking the gravguns so far? Are they so good that you are ok with dropping all meltas and plasmas from you biker units?

We should get a game in one of these days. I'm longing to beat....I mean, play against the new White Scared army.

Thanks so much. I had a great time and laughed so much all weekend.

I still keep the MM on the attack bikes, but I'm not really missing the trade of plasma to Grav yet. I was mostly worried about the loss of the range as I would usually be kiting people around at 23", but 18" is still pretty nice. It is great not pulling off 2-4 marines a game to gets hot, plus another 2-4 for difficult terrain. So those changes make a big difference than, say, last year when we played at the Golden Throne! Nothing like counting on losing a good chunk of your army to your wargear!

The gravguns obviously aren't as great at killing vehicles but with the rest of the army tools it seems to be ok. I played a 'for fun' game the Friday at FoB against 5 Landraiders and managed to win that game!

hahaha Yes!!!

That was hilarious!

But I think that his wins on Friday night sure boosted his mood and confidence going into the Invitational.

They sure did, seeing as I had only gotten two practice games in with the army prior to FOB, when Paul Murphy was in town and wanted practice.

Agreed. You would think that a tournament of such reknown would be more disciplined in the posting of the results.

Anyways, the only things I know is that (from other blogs):

Nick Rose (aka Darkwynn) won the FoB Invitational

Dan May (aka Captn Dees) won the FoB Open

Congrats to all the winners.

After a message to FOB on facebook, they responded with:

"Feast of blades
We're glad you had a great time! We apologize for not having them posted yet, but we are working on getting them up!"

So, I dunno how much work is involved with getting this kind of info posted (copy paste?) but apparently they are working on it!

There was a difference in how Feast ran their invitational bracketing and how we (ToF) had brackets set up. They used paper brackets, as they had in the past, to complete things after round 5.

We are in the process of manually putting in those match-ups from the paper copies so that all game results will be recorded for posterity/notoriety. This should be completed by mid week. Sorry for the delay.

So its 12 days later. No results. As a paying Torrent Of Fire member I am wondering what the deal is? I really like the idea of what you guys are doing, but if you cant actually give me the stats i'm gonna have to cancel...

Match-level results have been entered as of yesterday afternoon. We are working to finalize the leaderboard to match Feast's scoring system, which I expect to be done in the next day or two.

Just keep in mind, TOF has results posted instantly if events stick to using their software the entire way through the process, however if they for some reason stop using their software and manually pair on paper part way through the event, TOF has a good bit of catchup to do in trying to determine all of the various datapoints that they track, which determine pairings and matchups, and they have to manually input them (one person) for all of the matches that occurred afterwards. It's a good bit of reverse engineering, so some slack here might be in order (just trying to be realistic, not an apologizer )

I'm still puzzled as to why FOB went off the reservation and used manual pairing after round 5 when it was working fine, but hey, it's their show, and it sounds like the event was a success to those that attended regardless

How was Sportsmanship scored? I see a lot of 3s and 0s with a 6 here and there.
