I know you're not going for competitive, so I won't give you the competitive advice, unless you change your mind.
I think just about any ork list is fun, provided you like the units.

I myself love dakkajets and green tides, both of which you have. However, I think you might get tired of moving 150+ models. I only ever have max 120 boys at 2k, but it's personal preference.
I think Killa Kans are a super cool unit, but they may not be as 'fun' to you since they die pretty quickly.

If it were me, I'd drop some boys and the kans for big guns, and another dakkajet. The big guns are the more competitive choice, so don't feel like you have to do it if you want to screw around with kans!

Good luck, and welcome to Dakka and to the WAAAAAAAGH!

For a fun list, weirdboy is the way to go for an HQ.

I pretty much agree with NobledukeofGork, any Ork list is fun assuming you like the units.

Running 150 boys can get cumbersome for any ork player, so feel free to swap some out and try some other troop choices.

Otherwise, the codex is pretty open to you if you aren't going competitive.

As a new ork player, experimenting with all the units in the codex in a non-competitive environment is the way to go. Try them out, some of the units not considered to be competitive are pretty unique and useful.

Taking a fun list is one thing, but in a game that is based on war, taking useless units isn't very much fun. I suggest losing the tank bustas and taking another elite choice. My first suggestion would be lootas, but nobs are effective as well as long as you kit them out. The Weirdboy is a hit in fun games, as he is useful and totally random. Other than that, your list looks pretty good. Some things to expect and to watch for: boys will die, and usually in droves. 6th edition is very shooty, and boys are easy to kill with guns. Expect it and learn to work with it. Also, watch out for templates, especially flamers. Orks depend on cover, so things that take it away are very dangerous.
Like the others have said, welcome to Dakka and happy WAAAGHgaming!

Thanks for your input guys

First off, I'm gunna drop the boyz down to 120, all with shootas, and even though they die in droves, I've become a custom to that from playing massive hormagaunt tyranid lists.

I'd like to try some big guns at some point, but the question is which ones? I like the idea of zap guns, which has brought me to think about the shock attack gun for the big Mel, but which would mean losing the meaty cover save of the kustom force field, decisions decisions eh

2nd dakka jet is going into this list too and tankbustas will be replaced by some lootas

Thanks guys any more advice?

And there will be a new list taking all your advice in to consideration when I get home.

Honestly, I think you should give your list a shot. You won't know what you like until you do and your list has a solid core with 120 boyz.

I don't really like zzap guns but it is up to you to try them. We can give advice all day based on personal preferences and what not.

Your current list has a lot of units that are considered competitive in the codex (jets, lootas, gunz, large boy blobs)

It looks good, give it a shot!

if you want to make your opponent poop themselves take 45 lootas, dont leave home without them, like anytime I ask advice at my hobby store the old time vets, before I can say anything ask do I have 45 lootas? if I say no, then they tell me to revise my list before I even say it lol, love the shoota boyz though keep them, prob kick big gunz and kans though, 45 lootas+3 jets is freakin fantastic, and with green tide, pie plates scare me, especially so many from big gunz, so I don't personally like them, thats me though, also, I see no reason for rokkit launchas, what I do is give the nobs in the squads big shootas, for some percision funness, I love the look on my opponents face when I percision his special weapons guys in his squads >

Dakka is the ork word for shooting, but the ork concept of shooting is saturation fire. Just as there is no such thing as a "miss" in a target-rich environment, there is no such thing as a "dodge" in a bullet rich one

So they game I played last night was against a mystery opponent, and he played chaos daemons, a mix of khorne and nurgle, it was an interesting game which finished 10-5 to me on victory points, the big game changer for me was taking both soul grinders out by turn 2!! And then once I was in assault range, the skull mashing started not a bad start to this list, big Gunz and lootas were awesome and well, boyz will be boyz

Dis filfy git wantz ta know?

ik your not up for competitive. but having kanz die without a use just makes meh cry. better to leave them in the shop for now and bring in some new shiny toyz. id say switch all the kans and tankbustas for lootas and id say you can bring that to a terni and not lose all your games.
edit:gz on the win btw!

I really like Zzap guns, they're actually pretty useful! Ran two the other day, they managed to take out a Hive Tyrant and helped take down a Trygon! I did get fairly lucky with the dice rolls (most of my shots were strength 10!) Also if you're going for fun, swap out the KFF on your mek for a SAG, it's so much fun to field (remember to take plenty of ammo runts).

You're rich! You're flashy! You 'ave a proppa Orky stoutness about your belly! And you've got more big, shooty, and dead 'ard gear than any 2 other Orks put together. Da uvver clans orta make way for da Bad Moons!

Have you thought about running Lobbas instead of Zzap guns? Also I find Flyboy and extra supashoota to be great!

This list is great and super fun to play! I've played a similar list in the past and aside from moving so many models... it was a great game! So much Dakka and bodies flying everywhere... what's not to like!
Keep up the dice rolls and keep us posted on how it evolves!
