Alright everyone, we've all traded for/bought used models via eBay or the swap shop and the models we got were in need of some TLC. Maybe they were incomplete or broken? Maybe the paint job was....less than stellar? Maybe it was just one of your first models and you want to update it with some new flair? Show dakka your before and after pics.

Here are the specifics of this little challenge
1. The model/models can be from any game!

2. They have to be used!(No NOS space marines!)

3. Conversions are great as long as the majority of the original model is still there.

4. Post a pic of the model/models looking their worst. When you're done post a pic of it fully restored and painted!

5. Post what the original model is and what you had to do to fix it up. Remember this isn't a painting and modeling blog so keep it short and sweet.

6. If you got it from the swap shop don't say who you got it from, we don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

Have fun with this!

Meet Lucious the not so Eternal. I got him in a bulk deal. He was somewhat stripped, disassembled and missing a base. I stripped him some more and he just kinda sat around for the last 6 or 7 months lol. I'll start working on him next week when I get done with my current little project.

I just finished up this squad of assault marines. I got the models from eBay and they were a total mess. They were assembled using testors plastic cement (I could smell it when I broke one of the welds)... Way way way too much of it too. To the point that some of the backs of their legs had a half mm layer of the stuff from where it had seeped down from the intended glue spot. They were also primed with gloss enamel. And no mold lines had been cleaned up. At this point I don't have a shot of them in their starting state. The closest i have is a test shot I did for fitting my custom eagle helmet on them.

So in the shot above I've already soaked it in every paint stripper I could get my hands on... Super clean, simple green, lata, even tried oven cleaner. I also had already cleaned up some of the mold lines and pried/cut the original head off. I was replacing the shoulders, head and jump pack with customs so I had to rip/pry all of those off. Some of the collar pieces behind the heads came off and had to be resculpted. And there was a lot of damage to the backs. Almost all of the shpoulderpads I had to cut out the inner area inside the rim with my jeweler's saw because I couldn't get the pads off.... There was a lot of filing, filling, resculpting, etc...

Here's what they looked like pre-paint.
Spoiler:

Here's some more shots of the other guys:

And here's how they ended up:

Okay, this is a picture of my LR Executioner when I first started playing/painting. It was pretty horrible. But then I realized that I had hazard stripes on my heart and converted gave in to heresy. Here is my Executioner after it has been re-purposed for my Iron Warriors allies.

I actually created them myself. The sculpt and castings aren't 'perfect', but they turned out alright. Glad you like them!

Those distinctive helms are a really nice touch for Doom Eagles, I like them very much.
