So I was toying with the idea of mass Dread Knights. Was curious how likely it was to get thrashed/give a good thrashing.

I figure I hold all infantry in reserve and just shunt forward with the dreadknights and bring the troops/HQ's in where they are needed through deep strike or aboard the storm raven.

You can make it even worse you know
IYou say that only the DK will start and you want to keep the HQ/troops in reserve as much as possible, but you still pay a lot for them.
So you could make that part cheaper and focus on DK/SR more.

For instance
HQ :
Coteaz
Inquisitor naked

Troops :
3 acolytes
3 acolytes
3 acolytes, bolter
3 acolytes, bolter

Fast Attack
Stormraven : multimelta, assault canon
Stormraven : multimelta, assault canon

Heavy Support :
Dreadknight : teleporter, heavy incinerator
Dreadknight : teleporter, heavy incinerator
Dreadknight : teleporter, heavy incinerator
Dreadknight : teleporter, heavy incinerator

So you have one more DK, one more SR (for AA, cause lets face it otherwise you are weak against flier lists) but loose on troops.

Anyway at 2k pts, 4 small squads of GKSS will be easily swept away anyway

I'd have to say I do like this one better. How do you think it would do though? Would the DK's be able to weather the enemy attacks long enough to shatter their lines?

I'd take a combination of both, 2 psycannons + 1 psilencer.
The psilencer is a bit underrated since its great vs Daemons, say ''grounding'' FMCs.

Yeah. While the Incinerator effectively has an 18" range, you won't be able to get too many models under the template at that range. With the Psilencer/Psycannon it's a 24" range with 12 shots and a large blast. Plus they still have 2 DCCWs so they still have 5 CC attacks @ S10, so still an viable assault unit if you want them to be.

Yeah, I don't expect a list like this to win a lot, but it would be fun to play. I really would enjoy painting this. Maybe model and paint each one to look like a different transformer or something. I'll probably play test it for a bit on Vassal before investing in the models.

To be honest the psycanon is usually far less efficient then the incinerator on DK (you need to hit and you dont take out cover and you are only AP 4)
The psilencer is good only against deamons which are not really an issue with prefered ennemy anyway.

So if you REALLY want to keep points from the teleporters dont take them but keep the incinerators and run first turn.
Paying 200pts for a DK that will only shoot (and not that well) si really not point efficient unfortunately.

I have not tested yet the list i suggested (i dont have 6 DKs ^^ and only one SR yet) but i feel it would be much more powerfull.
You still have 6 flamer templates S6AP4 first turn.
Lets stay he has a good firebase and manages to kill 2 of them and wound the third, you charge the following turn with 4 DKs !!!

Eldar will be a problem with their speed (dont jump first turn against them, just move straight ahead 12 and run for a 15" move, second turn you move 12 again and likely charge, if he redepolys, you still have your TP)
Necrons would probably be problematic with too many fliers but you have 2 SR to help there
