Do you participate in ITC events, Pretre?
Does anyone else in here?
I'm trying to find out if anyone I'm chasing is a poster in here.

What lists do you guys think do the best in an ITC environment? I've got a fairly set 1500 list but i've never really been able expand it up to 1850 in a way i'm happy with.

I usually play:
Celestine
4xBSS(5, F, HF), rhino
3x Dominion(5, 4xMelta), Immo(TL-MM, DB) (2 LH)
3x Exo

My standard for 1850 is to fiddle with the vehicle equipment a little, split it into double CAD and add in:
Canoness(MoO, 4++, power weapon)
3x Penitant Engines (sometimes squaded, sometimes not)

it just feels that for an extra 350 points i'm not actually bringing that much more to the table when compared to other factions who say they feel restricted at 1500 but all their flashy toys really start showing up at 1850.

I rarely play pure nowadays but when I do, I end up adding forts and/or a BSS blobstar.

Drider,

You and I have a similar core. I usually go with an allied Artillery Company formation to expand up to 1850

Since we have top ITC Players here, what do you think of this list?
Celestine
4xBSS(5, F, F), rhino
1x Dominion(5, 4xMelta), Immo(TL-MM, DB)
2x Exorcists

Lost Brotherhood
Core:
Chaplain - Stock
Death Company Dread in Drop pod
3x Death Company w/packs (5, 4 Chainsword and Bolt pistol, 1 PF and Bolter)
Command:
Chaplain- Stock

The idea is that of a 1-2 punch. First punch is the Death Company... either each Death Company gets a Character OR all three Characters Pile into one Squad. Follow that up with some OS Sisters in Rhinos.

More Dominions than Battle Sisters?

Switching points around, I might be able to make it 3 BSS and 2 Dominions. Remember, there is a power fist in each of the Death Company squads too.

Even if you want the rhino and 2 flamers, for 5 pts you get scout/outflank and ignores cover for your bolters once.
2x BSS rhino 2x flamer
2x Dom rhino 2x flamer
1x Dom immo 4x melta

is only a 10 pt difference.

Sisters Armies aren't common. So it would be disingenuous to speak in the general sense about which ones do the best. as you can see in the ITC standings, as of today (link provided below) the number of them is small compared to most factions. There's only 56 Sisters of Battle players out of 4664 ranked players, ranked in the International Tournament Circuit.

https://www.frontlinegaming.org/community/frontline-gamings-independent-tournament-circuit/itc-2015-rankings/

However, we can tell you what we are doing when we play them in ITC events. That much we could tell you.

My advice on this core you mention is to consider drooping the extra two BSS units and switching to Rhinos. With those points I think you can profit through the use of some other units. Rhinos because you can fire from them. Prime possibilities for those points are the Battle Conclave and the Sisters Repentia if you have the points to invest and are willing to take my previous advice on Sisters Repentia (found here: http://40kunorthodoxy.blogspot.com/2016/08/unlocking-sisters-repentia.html)

I also would not suggest the Penitent Engines over other options. They are definite performers when you want to thin out a horde, or anything really, but the number of hard counters available early in games to that unit is pretty vast, and they have no means to overcome this with speed or deployment shenanigans. They are a definite threat and should be respected in that way against a lot of things since they get to go before Powerfist type stuff most of the time. Its the shooting and the open topped element that makes them kind of cry a little inside. they also necessitate that second CAD you're going to use to get them in there and two extra Sisters units and their Rghuinos is a fairly steep tax just to fit in some "okay" Dreadnoughts.

Just my take on it.

You have 201.67 ITC Ranking points, Pretre. I just tracked down all the places you're listed. Your total is wrong on the overall standings, probably because you didn't use the same email address at all the events, so it separated your scores, but You SHOULD be listed at 201.67, which would be good enough for 528th out of 4664. So in other words, you are in the top 12%

I think when the digidex was released, a pure army had an actual chance just based on the meta at the time. Since then though, we have fallen further behind the power curve and it is getting harder and harder.

Working on it... failing horribly, but working on it. My last couple tournies have been riddled with awful luck. Last game, I failed a rerollable 4" charge with my star. I couldn't tie myself up bottom of 1, and I left myself completely out of the proper LoS formation. Then top of 2 both of his grav cent squads came down and ate me. I still have 2 more RTTs and a GT before LVO.

Damn I hate to love and love to hate this game.

LVO. I wish I could go to that BUT... It is just a bigger expense than i can absorb just for some points. I went to BAO because it was closer but that was a bit spendy also. What can ya do. i think I would go to the BAO again if they fix the A/C in that building. good lord. Not only did i injure my back at that tournament but we were sweating BULLETS in that place. I sure do hope they work something out next year about that...

I toyed with going to BAO, but the flight plus hotel for a tourney with no real nightlife didn't math out. At LVO, at 7pm when you're done rolling dice, you're in Vegas. So you can then go to the casino and... roll more dice.. Plus there's a Smith and Wollensky, so I can get a 3 inch steak and slice of 7 inch carrot cake.

I'm an old, conservative fart... would love to go to the LVO, but I really don't drink and certainly don't carouse. I might volunteer and get part of my room paid for, but the nightlife just doesn't appeal to me.
But there is the food, which is awesome.
And I'm sure the gaming hall (board games, etc) will be open for events later.
Maybe someday. Someday.

Talk to me when its closer. I'm not in the carousing stage of life anymore either but LVO was awesome the last two years. I've got the room and 40K ticket booked, just waiting on work to ok vacation before grabbing the flight. I highly recommend playing the champs and enjoying the venue.

The event was bumped up to 500 players this year, and the gaming hall is going 24/7. But more importantly, you're never too late in life to drink or carouse! You guys just made George Burns roll over in his grave.

500 players makes it even less likely IO would attend. Not enough ITC points to get and not enough chance to get them. there are other majors that are a little easier on the pocketbook, like the upcoming TSHFT.

I did go to Vegas once and had a fantastic time going to all the magic shows and other shows. I enjoyed eating out and going to shows. spent $5 on a slot machine in total the whole time, so no gambling really. Just was fun.

Well, if you go to an 8 man tourney, and get dead last, you get 60 x 1.0256 points for 61.536 points. If you go to a 500 man tourney and place in the middle in 150th to 301st place range, you get 30 x 2.6 points for 78 pts. The more players in the field the less the overall skill of the whole is. So assuming we hold ourselves as 'pro' then you have better odds for more watered down opponents early on.

Just my take on it. To me it's 40k, Vegas, and carrot cake. That's my holy trinity.

There is no wrong reason to play. There are bad reasons to spend copiously though. Lol. I get what you're saying though for sure. I agree that I would not be in the bottom and probably could score some good points now that you put the math out there and asuming 500 are all playing 40K. Yup yup.

Maybe my wife needs a vacation. she's earned it... and while Im there...Ill just pop on down stairs and "see whats going on".
