I've decided to take a hiatus from my 40k projects and start a UNSC force from Halo (using codex: IG) and I'm looking for some input on what models to use for the marines (or vehicles, for that matter). I was thinking maybe Defiance games UAMC marines, but I'm not sure if there is anything closer, or if I should just add shoulder pads to them. I've searched around but most 28mm Halo projects I've seen are Covenant or Spartans (well done ones, I should add). Any ideas?

Have you heard of Dreamforge? Their Eisenkern Stormtroopers might be worth looking at.

On the basis of the picture linked below I would say that Elysians are pretty close. they have the right kind of chest armou and the knee and elbow pads.

You could probably find different helmets from Pig Iron or others that has a closer match, but the elysian helmet is pretty close too.

Also Hasslefree do a CAD gun that is pretty close to the Battle Rifle.

Wow, those are some nice minis. I'll definitely have to check all of these out. To clarify what look I'm going for, I linked a picture below. I really like the look of the new halo 4 marines, but honestly whatever minis are the closest to any marines (especially the halo 4, halo wars, or halo 3 ones) would be an insta-buy. How well do parts from different kits match up? Maybe I could mix Elysian torsos and arms with maxmini combat armor legs and defiance games or pig iron helmets or something? Thanks for the input

Halo HeroClix minis? The sculpts are all actually quite nice. Just strip and repaint if you feel the need,

I'll suggest Mantic's Corporation Marines, as they fit the description/prerequisites pretty well. Light armour on body, shoulders and hands, helmet, futuristic-looking gun. They're pretty cool models, and dirt cheap:

I have loads of these and reckon they really have that Halo vibe. If you're looking for some spartans (particularly more H4 style) then check out the Enforcers by the same company.

Mega blocks actually do a full range of halo toys. They're Lego style though and slightly larger than 28mm scale
P.s sorry if this is a dumb reply.

Huh, hadn't even considered using HeroClix miniatures or mega blocks. It seems that it would be expensive to create a whole army of them though. I think now I have to decide whether I want to do Halo 3 or 4 marines, as the Mantic marines are close to Halo 3 ones, and I think the UAMC marines would look close to Halo 4 marines with the addition of shoulder pads and the right paint job. I'm actually going to use the mega bloks minis as reference to how Halo minis would look in 28mm scale. This is a mega bloks H3 marine, compared with corporation marines

And UAMC marines compared to a Halo 4 megabloks marine. I think I might replace the arms of the UAMC marines with cadian arms, to give them shoulder pads. Would the arms fit well?

For ODSTs, I think I would use the pig iron visor helmets that I see on Dakka a lot mixed with some bodies (not sure which ones).

The Heroclix Halo figs can be purchased pretty cheaply, especially as singles. The problem is that they are very tall compared to Warhammer figs, and will look bizarre if you mix and match them.

Ah, so the sizes don't match up too well? On the topic of Halo 4 marines, does anyone know any arms with rounded/flattish shoulder pads (similar to Cadian guard arms) that would go well with the UAMC marines? If I can't find any, I may just stick with the corporation marines and model the army off of the Halo 3 style.

Edit: May use these legs with the corporation marines for that Halo 3 style. I've heard the corporation marines torsos and legs come attached so I may have to cut the bodies in half and use the torsos. Hopefully that doesn't prove too hard.

You're right in that the mantic marines come as 1-part torso+legs, so you'll need to break out the saw, but I'm not sure those legs would work, as the mantic stuff is 'true-scale' and the legs look to be 'heroic scale' (far thicker). If you can find a pic of a corp marine next to a GW cadian you'll see what I mean.
I personally like the thinner, more 'real' proportions, but some don't, especially when mixed with 40k models, so make sure you're happy with them before you take the plunge on getting a load.

I've been doing some more thinking before I order anything, and I do like the Halo: CE anniversary marines/ Reach army troopers. What seems to be the best way to represent them? Cadian arms? Cadian torsos? Not sure what legs or heads to use either, so any advice would be helpful.
