Well Hello
This is my first post here and I think not the last I was watchin and reading the dakkadakka forum from quite a long time but now its the time to post something already
This was my entry for the Hussar 2013 competition in Poland.
Its a bit diffrent than most nurgle models because I went not for dead green colors but rather for life green.
Is it better..I dont know but still I like him this way biggrin.png
And what do You think ?

Its a little too clean for my liking but great paintjob! Nice looking base, only thing that's a little off is the face but that's me!
Good work!

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers. |

That may be the "prettiest" Nurgle mini I've seen.
I'm not sold on it for Typhus, but that ethereal effect you have on his scythe blade and fly icon is amazing.

I like the colors are all in conflict with one another... it's very chaotic. But he seems a little too clean for Typhus. His armor is almost pristine when it should be covered thousands of years of rot and decay. I like the strange effect you've applied to the metal bits, but the OSL on the face is just terrible. Not only is OSL in general just overdone and a bit trite, but in this model it's completely washed out his face and covered up all the detail could/should be there instead. Why would Tpyhus' eyes glow that brightly?
Kudos to your skill with the brush, but I am not fan of this composition.

Very nice mini your base is very nicely done. The blending is great although in a few areas could use a little work (top of his back) over all nice job. I'm thinking of entering the paint competition next year. I travel to Poznan twice a year .

Looks fantastic (a bit too much like a coral reef for my taste but whatever floats your boat) my only complaint is the lack of a goblin green rim on your base

I actually agree with En ExcelsisMade about the OSL. The face seems so washed out because of it. The basing, which is wonderfully done, doesn't seem like it fits the model. The colours are so bright that they seem a bit distracting.
Your certainly a skilled painter, no question, but I'm not a fan.

Just applying a brown wash to recesses or a rus pigment might give it more of the Nurgle feel while still allowing your brighter colors to pop.
Also from a gameplay standpoint this model is a close combat beast and the base is so huge it will make pile ins during CC on the tabletop a little difficult possibly allowing more models to be "touching base" than normal.

those are some STUNNING colours. I love it. I'd want a whole nurgle army in these colours. Sure be different than the more traditional grimy look.

I feel like painting the grid over the lights in black helps the headlights look more realistic. Other than that, it looks awesome. Even with the headlights the way they are now, it looks awesome.

Not crazy about the purple OSL on the ultras. Something about the blue and that purple tone aren't working for me. It is executed very well, the color is just a little off for me. The "black" on those bikes looks really clean. It brightens them in a good way, but I think you may have gone a little overboard with the yellows in the weathering.
Solid stuff all around! Don't take my criticism as anything other than help. You're painting exceptionally well.

No but, thanks for validating my opinion and that's all it was. No need to be a jerk about it. Simply Typhus is never that clean. I did not say it was a bad paint job by no means. And if you actually took the time to read the other comments. I'm not the only one who said something about it.

Your work looks great? I take it you use an air brush? Do you use it for most all of the work or is a traditional brush used in some parts? It looks to me as if most everything done is with an airbrush.
