We are delighted to announce that Mat-O-War is back in production after a long hiatus. We have a provisional delivery date of November 22nd for the first production batch. As before it will be available in green and desert colours.
I believe that anyone who bought Mat-O-War when it was available will attest to the fact that it is very durable. We have some mats at the GMG that were played on constantly over the last 5 years and are still in perfect condition.
For anyone not familiar with the product check out this short video we made.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mA7aQVgTVzg
We have big plans for Mat-O-War with several new products in the pipeline.
We would appreciate it if you guys could help spread the word via blogs other forums etc.
As a thank you and to celebrate the re-launch we are running a special introductory price on the first 100 mats sold before November 20th at http://www.thehobbyden.com
The other good news is that we have sorted out worldwide shipping.
The mats will now be shipped boxed and the shipping rates will be as follows for the standard listed mat sizes
UK AND Europe €8.50
Rest of the World €11.75
In fact we can do practically any length mat you might want up to a max length of 30 meters with is a standard 2 meters just contact us through www.thehobbyden.com

These look great, and good to see they will be on sale soon.
Does anyone own one of these from the previous time they were sold, and would like to comment?

Got a direct link to the product?
I've been waiting for this one to get back in stock with Antenociti ever since they announced in September that it was coming back.

I too am waiting for Antenociti cause I wanted to order a mat in with some other stuff.. I wrote to their customer services and they said that 'after 20th November' was the only information they had. That was a while ago though, I notice nothing yet on the website so will pester them again!

What type of material is this? It looks like a type of thick felt, but it's hard to tell from just the video.

Hm I thought this would be about Mat Ward redesigning Man-o-war but with tons of random charts and narratives waiting to be forged.

Its not a felt it is a much more durable material that we designed to match static grass very closely. Being an acrylic material like static grass it takes acrylic paint really well should you want to spray it.

Some pictures showing the actual product might be helpful.
Just as a heads up, a lot of people won't watch videos. If you want to show off your product, make it as accessible as possible. The thumbnails and description on the linked webstore really don't give any idea of what the mat is made of or what it looks like, and the two pictures in the original post here are too heavily covered in terrain to show off the product underneath.

Could we get a couple of pics of models on the mat? Just so we can see how the texture sizes up to a model (and the static grass on a model's base).

We're stocking this within the mainland ( UK) http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/wargames-scenery-terrain/mat-o-war-wargaming-mats.html This is the best wargaming mat we've ever seen - imagine a loose pile of mixed static-grass (that's pretty close to the normal green mixes in colour) compressed into a thin sheet (about 2-3mm thick) and sealed together into a non-shedding 'mat'. That's the Mat-O-War: its exceptionally durable and tough, yet it remains flexible, although it wont drape over a pile of books f.ex - (see the image below where you can see the dip where it goes beyond the table edge, of the slope it forms over the books in the background - you wont get more of a "drape" than that) it does 'soften' somewhat with age and one customer did turn it into a fashion that would drape, but it took him something like 17 machine washes and 5 tubs of fabric softener. Personally I dont bother and we use it "as-is". For clubs and shows its indispensable due to the fact it wont shed and it will last years. You can "fluff" the surface suing a soft wire brush and you can also spray-paint the surface if you want to - its also two-sided so many of our customers have spray-painted one side with paths and fields, and left the other side blank to keep options open. If it gets creased you can steam-iron them out (cool steam over a damp cloth - dont iron it directly!) or just leave it flat somewhere and they will fall out by themselves. So, key points: 1) Its made from 'compressed static-grass' hence it looks just like the usual green-mixes of flock you get everywhere. 2) its very tough and durable 3) it doesnt crease / creases can be easily removed 4) its VERY durable (I know that's the same as 2, but its worth saying again!). 5) its is NOT a felt... you can cut it with sharp scissors or a knife but trying to deliberately tear it takes some really serious umpty (unlike felt). When it was last in production it sold out throughout the UK and we were left with just our own mats in the store - which we eventually sold as people were so desperate to get hold of the Mat-O-War even if just "second-hand". We've only got Green atm but the Beige is on its way - beige making a very good desert or dry-lands mat, suitable for anything from Wild West to sci-fi, especially with some spray-painted variation, town roads or suchlike. I'll try to take some more photos on our table in 2014.

I'll be buying one (or maybe three) of these, but given the state of finances and such it probably won't be until February.

Grassy fields is totally my thing, though I'll 'need' a desert one for all my Weird Wild West gaming too!
And an "Urban Grey" one too... I guess?!?

I've got a very nice Desert Mat made by Geohex/Gamescape who unfortunately no longer seem to exist. If I could still buy one of their grassy mats, I'd do so in a heartbeat. Instead, I've recently gotten a GW grass mat, but I'd get a full-sized one of these in their more dull (compared to GW) green, and one each of the green and desert in the much smaller size offered for skirmish games. I'm guessing my eventual delivery of Secret Weapon Boards (December delivery - yay!) will cover "urban" for me...

Have ordered one of the mats highlighted above, very reasonable £22.50 from Antenociti. The stock looks like it is going quickly though..
Really cool that it looks like the mat will curve over things in order to make hills (which are always one of the difficult things to get right without looking 'stuck on' I have found).
Will make sure I take some pics when I have it!

Think they're awesome. It's basically the same effect that you would get it if you just flocked a surface (in the case of the grass mats), but very handy in that you can just fold them up and store them easily. Plus, added bonus of not shedding everywhere (which is handy depending on what environment you are playing in).
Well worth twenty quid.

they're made from compressed flock, so I guess the answer is "yes".. but it isnt a case of flock attached to some form of backing sheet - those sort of things shed like crazy.... the MoW is comprised entirely of floc and wont shed.
