Believe it or not I never actually played this game before. It was me and one other person who had never played before either. I was using my CoC starter and since we didn't have any other models he used some 40k models to stand in for pCaine, 2 lancers, and a charger (he just picked out 10 points worth of jacks based on what looked cool). I thought it was hilarious, 2 TH/SS terminators and one heavy flamer terminator actually fit his force pretty much 100%.

Long story short: I didn't want to attrition because that's boring so I went for a risky play and it didn't pay off. I ended up not getting to charge his caster with my heavy since there wasn't quite enough room to fit between the wreck marker and his charger (I could have made the charge if I had guessed the exact right charge lane I think). He used that force push spell to run said heavy over my caster (who had 0 focus since I went all in for assassination, and I used him to boost synergy...yes I know its dumb) and then applied his lancer to the knocked down Syntherion.

Just gong to say there is a ton of difference between giving strategy advise and actually playing the game...so much thinking ahead and spacing. That focus induction train is a bloody rubix cube. Really looking forward to playing bigger games (at some point once I get competent) and with more experienced people who can give me pointers.

Also this guy played caine incredibly close (like a couple of inches behind the line of engagement) and kept using the force push spell to mess with my positioning, leaving him on 0 focus. I don't think that's how you're supped to do it...but what do I know, it sure worked against me.

He has, but I've seen wombat qualify a lot of his posts with 'I haven't had a chance to have a game yet, but...'.

And that's good to hear that you finally got a game. Keep at it, and you'll eat Caine soon.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Nobody at my school plays the game what can I say...

Imagine the guy who knows all the strategy but has no idea how to actually apply it. That is so me it's hilarious.

My personal lists tend to incorporate a great deal of brute force, Especially soft Jacks such as Lancers can easily be taken down (or be made useless) by 2 Heavy Infantry with Weapon Master

In smaller games using Weapon Master Infantry is definitely my suggestion

and yea there is a slight difference between Theory and Application, I really am glad that you get to play now tho. Even if it completely caught me by surprise since I personally saw you as a veteran of the forums.

I'm glad you thought my posts were good enough to pay attention to. Also I can say for sure that a charging cypher had no problem whatsoever killing a charger (especially a knocked down charger...I can't believe the mitigator was actually good for something, an aoe knockdown is much more useful than I gave it credit for, even if it is really short ranged).

Then Caine was nice enough to push me back so I could charge in again, but the line wasn't there

One would think so, but on the terminator models it's a big chunky gun with two barrels...which looks a lot like the charger's cannon once you stop to look at it.

Apparently the man has a soft spot for playing mercenaries...I might be able to get another player interested when I show him Magnus the Traitor or Damiano.

He used them to proxy light Warjacks.

Ah ok. Random 40k chatter threw me off.
