Going to airbrush my first models this week, and I'm going to preshade the green areas(Salamanders).

I'll have black areas though(Ironclad, Stormraven, Drop Pods), and it occurred to me that I have no idea how to shade black in a way to match the shading of the rest of the vehicle(preshading).

Any advice would be helpful, as this is a big leap for me(I normally wash/drybrush my models).

I tried finding some videos, but they are all of vehicles with color instead of black.

Going off of this for the how to on shading.

I'd suggest painting the model black, fade from black to your desired color with two different shades of green, then post shade the panel lines afterward. Pre shading doesn't work to well if you're using a lot of black.

It only really works when using solid colors

Use some silly putty to mask up, and highlight it with greys?
you might do better to work the opposite direction, and base grey and shade down to black instead?

'Ain't nothing crazy about me but my brain. Right brain? Riight! No not you right brain! Right left brain? Right!... Okay then lets do this!!

I'd base them dark grey and fade it into black.
Much like here with the greens:

Or, you could just hardline edges.

Don't worry about preshading the the black areas. First, preshade the model and fill in the black areas at the same time. After that is done, do all your green work. After the green is dry, mask anything that might get overspray on it and touch up the black areas and then highlight them. I would suggest using a dark blue to do it since it adds a little more visual interest, but neutral greys would work just fine.
