Tastey Taste picks up the gauntlet and accepts Frankie's take all comers challenge to test his new Dark Eldar tournament list! This helps Frankie to hone his list in preparation for the coming season as well as grant a prize to anyone that can take him down!
Wow. Rough game. 4 Pens on each exorcist with no 4+ invul saves made and it kills like 15 models from the squad in front of it from the explosion? Two TL-MM immos missing all shots. I just skimmed but seemed like the SOB didn't have a chance due to dice.
I would ask for a rematch, that was crazy.

I demand a rematch. I am curious about the skyshield idea.

I think frankie should just run away say he won and never accept a rematch, imagine how bad it would be if the sisters got hot, turn one pop 6 DE tanks, and watch as everything evaporates.

Skyshield would be pretty interesting if you don't have Uriah as your warlord. Hmm.

And failing to hit with multiple TL-MMs and having two explosions kill 15+ models.
Night Shields are good, but still his long range guns were blown up so that doesn't really matter for them. It did help against the MM, but those are so close it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, I didn't really get the skyshield. I'm trying to think of what advantages it has over the less expensive Aegis Line.
I suppose it can get your Exorcists a little higher up off the ground to get better sight lines and maybe better cover against fliers, I'm not sure that's worth 75 pts.
Putting the big mob up there was a little weird too. It looked like a bubble wrap job, but against what threat? If you're going to use them as a meat shield they'd probably be better off protecting your Immolators since the Exorcists are already getting cover from the Skyshield. I think I'd use the Immolators to shield the mob and have them advance behind the tanks.
That's all pretty moot though if you're rolling nothing but ones.

the 4++ can't be taken away by ignore cover.

I think he was trying to use it as a castle where you couldn't kill all 25 of his dudes or whatever. Just doesn't work with that kind of blob though.

Tastytaste takes the skyshield for protection against Tau and Hell drakes. It was a bad matchup for tastytaste as I have so many shots and reduce the range of his already short range by 6". Bring on the challenges Im having fun with the Dark Eldar.
My original list did have an Aegis over the Shield, but I went down to shop expecting to play 1750 not 1850 and did not have the points for an Aegis and gun, so I added a useless Canoness on the fly.
My big mistake was I should have always assumed he was going first and then Castle in the corner I MEAN WAY CORNER and use the Skyshield to block line of sight. I would have then reserved the Excorists and come on where ever he hid, the point being have him only be able to shoot the blob and force him closer. The only way I would've had a chance is if I had gotten first blood (going up 2-0) that would have forced him to come to me and such. Instead, I relied on the 4+ invulnerable and it failed.
The Shield typically does wonders for me, it soaks up shots and only requires a DTT to get down. With Tau and various other things ignoring cover these days it gives you something your opponent cannot take away. If only it was an objective game I think my chances would have been a lot better as well.

You had awful luck that game, actually, that day! haha, your dice deserted you.

nope. It's indestructible.

Did frankie just finish some painting on his DE? I think there are new runes on them. They are looking good.
The dice were brutal. It is rare to see such a one sided display of rolling. I am not even sure how you loose that many sisters to explosions. You may want to give the SoB player a cookie or something.

Yeah, it happens though. And it takes a lot of time and energy to set the videos up and so we publish them even when it's a total ass kicking as it takes forever to start over.
Oh, and I tried the 60 Tactical Marines in Rhinos, scout list....brutal! Triple Riptide Tau conceded top of turn 2.
Didn't film it because it was late and we were tired, but it works very, very well.

Haven't heard about this one... Just uses Scout chapter tactics and tons of Marines?

I don't mind watching it. It is kind of like watching jackass...you know when somebody breaks a board on the other guys head.
Reece you are a mean mean man. You try it out and you don't even make a video batrep and then you tempt me with the knowledge it works well. I am starting to think you guys are sadists.
BTW I am just ribbing you as I appreciate you guys making these nice free batreps and sharing them with us leeches.

Yeah, I went with White Scars, Scout moved up, got out, Alpha Struck, then charged. It was brutal. I also had support units, too, but the core is 60 Tacticals in your face turn 1.
@Ansacs
No worries, it is a bummer for us when that happens too, but we have limited time to make the videos so we just role with it. I mean, it happens, it's a part of the game when that type of thing goes down. The bummer is when people think that is the normal result of the match-up in question. 1 game doesn't really prove much beyond maybe proof of concept on a list or combo, etc.
I actually think the SoB should have had the edge in that matchup. Unfortunately you couldn't draw any conclusions from that game except that explodes results are bad. Not that 1 result is experimentally relevant in any case.

Yeah, and conclude also that DE Alpha Strike can be BRUTAL, haha. That is why Frankie takes Vect, to increase his odds of getting that all important first shooting phase.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Ah, I forgot to add that the SIsters had 5 Retributors with 4 Heavy Flamers in an Immolator. Doh!
