Seems that the line, "while this should be considered official, check with your opponent" is rumored to be removed from Forgeworld books and replaced with something to the effect of, "these are official, but make sure your opponent knows the rules of any models chosen from this book."
This should prove interesting in the future.

I'm interested if this is true, how tournaments will deal with this, besides the obvious of ban them.

eh allies provide so much more WAAC than FW ever will for a tournament. You're still limited by your socio-economic status when dealing with FW (granted, that can be applied now to all of warhammer). Most allow them, I don't see anything in FW that will be worse.

GW doesn't support tournaments anymore, so their rules of legality are irrelevant. Tournament organizers will determine whether things are legal or not.

Probably had to be figured since the forgeworld site is supposed to be rolled into the GW site next year if I remember the other rumors correctly. Little Timmy's dad will be upset if he buys the complete chapter deal with forgeworld add ons if his son is told he can't use the forgeworld stuff.

I wonder how this will be handled at B+M level?
Assuming it is all correct, and it is both logical and reasonable to see it happening for multiple reasons, the staff are incentivised based on in-store sales.
On the rare occasion I buy anything GW these days, it is the oddball stuff that can only be ordered direct, but I still order in store, because if you pay in store then it counts towards their targets, and the current manager isn't a bad chap and I try and do what I can to support him (and try and keep some contact, as our local club has rather strained relations with the shop, because we play non- GW games alongside Warhammer, it seems to make the managers a bit uncomfortable sending people to us can't imagine why! )
The only reason I know to do this, is because having a retail sales background myself, I thought to ask, I doubt many others would think to (if you pay via the order point in store, this doesn't count to their target, only if you pay at the till)
My point is (hooray, made it) if GW start promoting FW stuff on their site, but don't put stock in stores, they are going to be undermining their staff's ability to make a living by directing more sales online.
If I was a GW staffer, this wouldn't impress me.

This is literally irrelevant. Unless they have a line saying "your opponent MAY NOT refuse to play this", then nothing has changed.

Online sales can boost your business! The actual stores become places to see things/get advice. If the rumoured GW/FW sites merge I could see it being quite lucrative. If I was picking up FW stuff I might just add a couple of GW kits for the convenience (And free delivery if FW takes that out of GWs book). It works for department stores, it might work for GW.

That is essentially what it is saying. It would end up be like refusing to play against someone becuase they are playing a cheesy unit. You can, but he would have every right to play it.

FW and GW won't merge. GW is the family-friendly arm, more like an extension of the high-street shops. FW is very obviously aimed at more serious/adult hobbyists, any attempt to combine the two would make it all very confusing. If a teenager getting into the hobby wants to check out what's available for Space Marines, he's probably going to be put off by the gargantuan amounts of combinations and add-ons that Forgeworld brings, whereas the GW site is a little too click-heavy for me, it's good at laying things out clearly.

He already does? Or have FW players been playing illegally?
I don't see many people complaining in a fit of rage about people refusing to play with random forests...something tells me we will still see people whinging about their cheese not being accepted down the flgs.

Forgeworld has the explicit rule saying that if an opponent doesn't want to play against FW units you can't play them. This would remove that.

They already describe themselves as official. From here:
As with all our models these should be considered ‘official’
The only thing that's changed is the line about social etiquette, making sure your opponent is okay with it first. And frankly I would like to think that people can play 40k without having a rulebook spell out social etiquette for them.

Well good, but the "merge with the GW website" thing has me mighty scared. Anyone who's read a FW catelogue knows of the crazy differences in regional pricing those things have, even though that pricing is never reflected on the FW website (the prices are always the same). If they merge sites, I'm afraid that all the Australian prices will nearly double overnight.

Valid point, but ask all the staff working in electronics stores that are incentivised on sales what they think of people coming in to check out tv's in store before ordering it from home online.
In the case of GW, people won't necessarily even be aware that they aren't supporting their store when they make their order. Of course, if their incentives are adapted to reflect the new structure no problem, they could get feedback in positive in store experiences, use mystery shoppers etc to reward staff that offer a great service rather than sales, but I've been on the receiving end in that environment, where HO refuse to acknowledge anything that impacts sales as legitimate, while simultaneously making it harder and harder to earn your bonus by continually moving the goalposts.
Think of the Redshirts, won't somebody think of the Redshirts!

You've only half completed the thought process there, its "all the Australian prices will nearly double overnight" then the rest of the world will be adjusted to match!
