Subject: Shoota boy nob question.

Hi; sorry in advance if this is covered somewhere else and I'm just not smart enough to find it.
I'm still brand new to warhammer 40k and am still in the process of assembling my army and finding as much info i can about each unit. I just bought some ork nobz and decided to outfit one with a kombi-skorcha. Now I know that's fine in a group of nobz, but I read a discussion that said roughly, "A nob leading a mob of shoota boyz cannot bring specialty equipment".
Now I believe that the discussion was revolving around power klaws, so it would make sense that you couldn't bring that with your shoota boyz. But my question is if a nob is leading a group of shoota boyz does he HAVE to bring a shoota, or would a shoota-skorcha be okay as well?
I'm sorry again for the question, i have yet to get my hands on a rulebook and it would probably be answered there. But until then i was hoping someone wouldn't mind pointing me in the right direction.
Thank you, I appreciate any help that is given

Nasty Nob on Warbike with Klaw
|
It's all answered. In the Codex, not the rulebook.
Basically, if the Nob has an option for a kombi-scorcha listed, then he can take one. If not then no.
There are a few option differences between nobs that lead units, and nobs that form an elite unit.
So only the options for Boyz units applies in this case (p100).

he can upgrade his choppa to either a power Klaw or a big choppa and keep his slugga. Otherwise he loses the slugga and choppa when the mob upgrades to shootas, he gets a shoota, and can't take any special weapons. Nobz only get the combi gear when they are in a nobz elite unit.

Oh alright, so then the only things you can bring are what's listed in the ork boyz section. That makes sense.
Thank you very much for the answer, that should help me out in the future as well
Sorry again for the dumb question, I should have know the answer would have been right in front of my face the whole time >.> Automatically Appended Next Post: Bobaram wrote:he can upgrade his choppa to either a power Klaw or a big choppa and keep his slugga. Got it. I guess it was a bit much to hope for that anyone who charges my shootas gets a face full of fiyah.
Thank you for the help

You can equip a nob with a claw and have the boyz swap for shootas.
From the Ork FAQ:
Q. If a Boyz mob exchange sluggas and choppas with shootas, can a
Nob take a power klaw or a big choppa? (p100)
A. You may upgrade the Nob to have a big choppa or power
klaw before you choose to upgrade the mob to have shootas, in
which case the Nob is not affected by the mob’s weapon swap
(as he no longer has a choppa to swap), does not receive a
shoota and keeps his slugga and power klaw/big choppa
instead

I ve seen someone on here take Big Shootas on Nobs, Is this possible?
Im assuming you give a boy the big shoota/Rokkit and than chose that model to be the nob technically but does he not lose the big shoota?

Any model in the unit can take a big shoota / rokkit, which can include the nob.

I was actually looking for info on the kombi-skorcha (although I guess you cant do that)
But I guess you're just saying "read the rules more carefully dummy" Which could be useful with future questions
Thanks for info
