Is it bad that I like the art for the set pieces rather than the characters? I think Kirai doesn't look like kirai, Lost Love looks like a stunt double from the Temple of Doom, and Lucius looks a little too neverborn-y for me (I realize his fluff changed, but still)...

The quality of the art is still well done, but just not pulling me in :-\

On Kirai I'll agree (I don't know much about Lucius); I have the metal kit, and her model in that is in a very, very different tonal nature then this. Isn't Kirai the Avatar of Despair or something like that? Here she is more... uh, I'm not sure what that pose is, exactly, running dash, I guess

If the TtB Canon Campaign actually did have an affect on the Malifaux world (and someone can confirm based on Wave 2 playtest), Lucius is a neverborn creature, which I'm fine with as my two favorite factions were Neverborn and Guild. With that being said, there were only a handful of people (the party that revealed this piece of information) privy to this knowledge in the game world. So his nature, while revealed, should still be a mystery to the common person, and as such I think that he should still have that sort of 'dignified' status that he appeared to have during 1st edition.

Like I said, the art of the piece is very good, but I think that there is just something 'slimy' about the new Lucius art. But that's just me

Sorry, the're actually specific to kirai (summons) so no chance.

I like the new look for the Ikiryo. The old one looked a bit goofy, like it was trying to scare Scooby-Doo; this one is a better fit for someone's twisted dark side come to life.

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."

So far, I find the Version 2 plastics to be very, very mixed. I'll happily eat crow, however, and admit that despite my earlier resistance the game itself plays much, much better. :-)

Still, as models go, you have crews like Seamus that look virtually unchanged, or worse outright than the old models, boxes like the Ortegas which are about 50/50 between great and awful models, and the stuff like the Viktorias which look wonderful. Its been strange. I went from sure i'd be rebuying tons of crews, to actually buying up Version 1/1.5 metal models for items that flat-out looked better before.

That said, my Translucent Pandora crew is about the sexiest thing in my collection (I'd say the same for Translucent Tara crew, but her model is awful, as is Karina.... boring and weirdly static poses)

Could always just proxy them as something else if one felt so inclined.

I actually thought it was a Bete Noir the first few times I looked at the picture, and I had wondered why the Bete Noir was in the Kirai box set.

Funny, the old Ikiryo reminded me of the first ghost we see in Ghostbusters (after she freaks out). I wonder how she'll play in this edition. I found her hard to play with last time around.

I just noticed this on the main site, but it has a posting of all the non-10T M2E plastic boxed sets that have come out so far and how to assemble them.

It's an interesting look at the intricacy and detail of the sets if you don't have them.

Each image also visually depicts the sprues.

I'm not sure if everyone is keeping up with the Wave 2 play testing results, but Justin confirmed last week that all of the official rules for the Wave 2 models they've been testing so far will be available for free via PDF on February 10th. The physical cards will be delayed, but at least the official rules will be available. Also, following the release of the PDF they'll start work on the avatar playtesting.

Per Justin:

Unfortunately, it's looking like it is going to take a bit longer to get all of the art for this wave of models than we had hoped, so we are looking to release arsenal decks in mid 2014 sometime before Gen Con.

The nice thing is that this gives the playtesting process some breathing room. So, here is the plan:

-This round of playtesting will last until the third week in January. January 24th will officially be the last day of this round of playtesting and on that day these forums will be taken down.

-I Will then spend two weeks proofreading, doing some internal playtesting, and generally finishing up any design which these models need.

-On Monday February 10th, we will release free PDFs of all of the models/upgrades from this wave for download. These will be the finalized, set in stone rules. They will be tournament legal. However, these cards will contain no art.

-On Tuesday February 11th, we will launch the next wave of playtesting which will include the avatars for every master and at least one new generic upgrade for each faction.

-This third wave of Playtesting will last until the end of April.

Once all of the art is in, we will send everything off to print and have the wave 2 arsenal decks as soon as possible.

The folks at Wyrd are doing a raffle for FLGS shoppers

Wyrd Games

New Year Raffle

Wyrd is running a raffle in an effort to support local brick and mortar game stores. To enter purchase any Wyrd product from your Local Gaming Store between December 20th and January 25th. Every Friday from the 3rd of January till the 31st we will raffle off a special limited edition plastic box set (Your choice of Transparent Pandora, Transparent Rasputina or Dayglow Pandora) to some lucky person who purchased Wyrd product (including all card and board games) at a local game store!

To enter, scan or photograph your receipt and send it to Jacqulyn@wyrd-games.net with the exact words, "New Year Raffle" in the title of the email. The receipt must have the date of purchase, name of the store, price, and product code (or name of the item) visible. Unfortunately, hand written receipts can not be accepted. At the end of every week, we will pick a random person in both North America and abroad (Europe, etc) and we will send out the bundle! Winners will be emailed and will have 48 hours to respond, or a new winner will be selected. The store where the purchase was made will also receive one of each of the limited edition sets.

Only product purchased through brick and mortar stores will be eligible. We know that not everyone has an LGS near them, but we are really trying to help support local business. Winners will be picked from entries during that week (so if you enter on week 1, you need to enter again to try to win week 2). You may enter as many times as you wish during any week.

so if you're buying something in store remember to keep your receipt enter

Arcanists' new master: Ironsides

I'm not sure how I feel about Ironsides. From the stat card I as imagining something more like this:
Spoiler:

I'm sort of disappointed. But at the same time it"s cool to have a black female character.

Also, any news about when gremlins might get some plastic love? I've been wanting to expand my gremlin crew, but it seems like Gremlins aren't even on the schedule for a new box.

I can dig it. I was hoping she'd be more Pam from Archer, but this works too. She looks like someone who might be able to fit a pipe and take a punch, as opposed to another waif with implants like most of their females (Zoraida and Sybelle excluded).

Thatoneguyoverthere - The Warstore lists Somer and Ophelia in March, and the Brewmaster in April.

They did a pretty good gob with Taylor too.

And to be fair, allot of the male melee masters are pretty weedy too. McMorning definitely doesn't look like a 14 wound Hard to wound model.

Really digging the alternative look.

Agreed that there are quite a few masters that feel disproportionately tough based on the model. McM sure doesn't look twice as tough as the Viktorias...

She's the new Arcanist master, brought in as a Miner and Steamfitter Union leader. She's not magically gifted, making her somewhat of an anomaly in the faction. Play wise, she's a pugilist that get's better the more enemies around her and the more she's hit. She builds adrenaline which can be spent on more attacks, regens, etc. She also has a pretty awesome "you looking at me?" ability that lures things into melee, they take a debuffed attack and then she gets to retaliate. I'm looking forward to trying her out in her finished form.

Wow, I love the art for Ironsides and I hope the mini turns out to be just as awesome. I've been holding out for the new Kaeris or Showgirls crew box before I get in to M2E but if Ironsides comes along first I might just pick her up instead!

A little disappointed in the Captain. The style is good, but I was hoping to see him airborne on a vapor trail. A more dynamic pose would have been nice.

Nothing for the RPG, no new figures for the "Build your own guys," nothing.

Vaporware.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

They did release playtest documents for the RPG and the beta finished in early January. The book is in final editing and layout now for its print run. So probably 2 months or so to go. I'm hoping the multiplart minis will work well to allow me to make another illuminated from the leftovers. I want another, but dont want to buy another Lynch box...

Wyrd Games

The public beta for Wave 2 is over and all of the cards are available for free download from our site! Wave 2 includes models from Rising Powers, Twisting Fates, and Storm of Shadows. So, if you were unable to find rules for your favorite models in the second edition book, they'll be available here.

http://wyrd-games.net/community/files/file/53-malifaux-wave-2-cards-low-rez/

These PDFs are final, official, and tournament legal. They are only missing the art, and arsenal decks will be on their way for wave 2 later this year. The only models missing from wave 2 are the avatars, and an open beta test for the avatars is starting this week!
