The problem with Malifaux, in spite of its skirmish sized games, is that I want everything. The Lone Marshall does seem a bit expensive compared to most though, you can pick some whole crews for that price.

yep. Someone was commenting that, with Lynch's crew, for $5 more you get:
4 more guys
1 medium-based/large guy
1 dog
...and a guy on a horse

I understand pricing crew boxes lower than comparable support kits since you'll sell more of most crew boxes than most support kits and they have a history of pricing their mounted models around $30-$35. However, post a switch to plastic, a single mounted figure for $30 still seems high. I feel like a bunch of the other models are fairly well priced, but I'd like it if they packaged some of the unique models together to cut down on the number of SKUs and possibly a slightly lower cost per figure. Uniques like Bishop, Hans, Johan and Killjoy might make sense packaged together.

I do think it is interesting that the December Acolyte and Convict Gunslinger are getting three and two models in their plastic versions respectively.

The switch to plastic was more about cost certainty than price reduction.

Totally understand that. $30 for a single mounted resin or metal figure makes sense to me. For plastic it makes less sense. There's plenty of other Malifaux models I like and at prices I like. I'll just pass on the Lone Marshal.

You'll sure as hell sell more at that price lol. I'd rather just buy another McCabe box and convert the mounted version. Plus the figure is just kind of boring and generic looking. You'd think they could have added a few bells and whistles. Or spurs at least. At least he has stirrups.

I'm glad we''re getting some variation on those. I wonder if silent ones and other non-unique minions will be getting multiple models as well. Though really Wyrd... 3 samurai? A little optimistic on a pretty unpopular unit.

I definitely like the Somer Box, except for maybe Somer.

I might pick up the other two, and use them all for stand in bayou gremlins in a massive summon/swarm list.

I keep thinking to myself, "No, I really should limit the number of miniatures games I play, I shouldn't play Malifaux," and then Wyrd goes and releases Ninja Gremlins.

*sigh*

I need to get that pig... as well as the giant mosquito. Why?

I don't know, but I'll rationalize it by the time I have them.

The monks seem to have extremely long legs. Must be some kind of monk training...

I'd like to be able to buy some of the separate items for some of the crews, like the Scales of Justice or one of the wastrels, but it looks like they'd be cheaper to get if I just bought the box and separated the others out to sell. And yeah, the Lone Marshall is a nice miniature, but I'd rather have a whole crew box rather than just one mounted dude.

The crews look nice, but Gremlins are the faction I'm least interested in right now. Even if I wanted to start them I think I'd lean towards getting the metal versions, but that might change when I see the actual plastics.

The Lone Marshal really has me baffled. For that price, there must be something more in the box, right? Maybe it includes a lot of extra bits or something. There's no way Wyrd would charge $35 for a single human-sized model on horseback, would they?

EDIT: Others have mentioned converting the Marshal out of the McCabe box, which sounds like a great idea, especially once the Through the Breach character boxes come out. Any word on when those will be released?

The Pale Rider has an MSRP of $35, and had the same sticker shock when I snagged that one.

A glance at the online store indicates that the other 3 Riders are only $30, so maybe Guild players are just expected to pay a bit more for some reason? >.>

Also, the Through the Breach books are at the printers and the miniatures are on a boat.

How far along they are in the printing process and transportation (respectively), we have no idea.

For what it's worth, Wyrd is publishing a card game for a kickstarter game:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/507884081/fall-schematic

More Malifaux-Related, for $90 you can get three minis of Lucius, Collette, and a "Miss"

Note that they're anime'd up as part of a promotion for this Kickstarter and very unlikely to be representative of Lucius and Collette's actual plastic releases.

Considering the current responses when asked about the miniatures for Through the Breach, I wish anyone backing this good luck.

I'm... confused by this. Spent like 10 minutes trying to figure out what I wanted, considering I don't have a smartphone. I still don't really know what's going on...

There are three products here.

A mobile game unrelated to Malifaux and Wyrd.

A card game unrelated to Malifaux but published by Wyrd.

Three crossover Malifaux character miniatures at 32mm. This is the listed $90 pledge and you pledge for and get nothing but the miniatures. Alternatively, you can get Lucian himself alone for $35 as an "Add-on" to the $1 base pledge; he comes with a special stat card.

Hi Backers - we want to thank you for your support and continued interest in Through the Breach. We're in the manufacturing window right now, which is why we haven't been able to show you much. We'll be launching a comprehensive update tomorrow though, so in the meantime, please make sure your address is up to date and enjoy the Designer Diaries.

But then I ask about the status of the books and minis on their forums and it's "out of our hands".

... they've been shipping new books from their printers yearly for half a decade and new minis from their factory/ies monthly(ish) for even longer (though I suppose they might've changed with the move to plastics, but that was still 1.5-2'ish years ago, so I find that a little hard to believe they can't even ballpark a "sometime in the next week or two" or "hey, so about March... don't make any plans for April..."

Abs, thanks... yeah, thought that was right... Well, not a fan of the confusing crossover or emphasis on a mobile game, so I think I'll be sitting this one out...

But... I mean, this just seems ridiculous, the plastic molds need to have been rendered, what, months before the molds are cut. They haven't even shown that?

Oh, I'm sure they exist. People said they saw prototypes of Hannah last year at Gencon, we've seen renders of the MPM, and Santana, Miss Terious and the Tree already existed.

It's strange they remain so tight lipped about this, but I guess we'll find out in two weeks if they were able to make March or not.

It's also a bit frustrating to have someone being short with a backer when they are the ones that are six months late.

You're mistaking "We won't tell you" for "We can't tell you."

If they give an estimate on arrival and it's late, everything they say becomes excuses for people who want to complain. Especially if it's explaining a delay that they might not have any control over--the shipment wins the Homeland Security Surprise Bonus Inspection; traffic accident with the shipping trucks--vs. someone messing up the import paperwork. For illustration, see the Wild West Exodus kickstarter and the occasional accidents that it ran into.

Silence isn't exactly winning them any friends either.

And since when has that stopped them? If that was their response to all critique and controversy we'd still be on Malifaux 1.5.

According to the back of that issue, gremlins are only getting Somer in the May releases spot, no Ophelia or Brewmaster even though the art is leaked and on Warstore.

My brother will be severely disappointed.
