It's in Chronicle 10. I like it overall, but I miss the mouth in the stomach from the original.

If there are three skeeters in the box... is there any chance we might see a separate release? I love throwing critters in impromptu skirmish games.

A lot of shops around the net are starting to list Through the Breach as a June release.

Though they haven't told the backers squat about this, hopefully it's indicative of a light at the end of the tunnel.

A poster on their official forums asked about their timeline, and got a fairly vague "soon, we hope" response from staff. Apparently, it was sent out on a ship from the factory, and they were waiting for it to clear customs and get to them. I believe they said they were hoping for a summer release, assuming all goes well.

Not making a value judgement on their communication with customers. Just passing along what I've heard.

That's good to know.

Though "Summer" officially ends in late September.

So, well, that's not terribly heartening until they can get a wee bit more accurate.

But I appreciate the heads up all the same.

The product will not be available for retail before Kickstarters are taken care of - I've already made that clear.

I could put an update today going 'hey, books are coming in ..' but I'm not going to. I'm going to wait till they arrive this afternoon (if tracking isn't lying) and come next Monday will post pictures of the product in hand, etc - which I'm pretty excited about personally. Not everything has shown up, but we're pretty close.

In the mean time, the 'Wyrd has screwed me over and over' thread has run its course. The product has been created, paid for, and in the hands of other vendors right now (some of which I could strangle). When it's in mine, it'll be knocked out to kickstarter backers as quickly as we can, and the warehouse knows that that will be a mandatory overtime week to make that happen. If we could snap our fingers and have it done and sorted - I most certainly would."

*facepalm*

They simply do not understand Kickstarter. It is a free loan service to them, nothing more

When was that?

Also, yeah, I'm ready to call foul. Having organized comparable printings and shippings, I'm not seeing why its taken them this long to get the books, unless they weren't as close to printing as they said.

If indeed the product is in the hands of other vendors

(does this mean some books got shipped direct to distribution?)

I would not be surprised to see some of them on sale before KS backers get (or are even sent theirs) as distributors seem pretty poor at keeping to street dates, and if they ship them to stores they'll e even more likely to sell early

(and I can't see Wyrd actually pulling out of a distribution deal if they do, it would cost the company too much)

but that said it will be interesting to see what they've come up with (and what I missed out on by dropping out of their mess of a KS)

9am this morning on their forums.

They ended the beta in early January as I recall, so it's looking like roughly 4-5 months from that to delivery, assuming things start going out by the end of the month.

Yeah... even with a couple months of post-beta internal testing, that's still pretty late: shouldn't take more than a couple month turnaround...

I don't mind so much, but RPG's on Kickstarter don't have a high standard of punctuality. At least not the ones I've backed which also include Exalted 3rd edition (7 months late, the most optimistic guesses at release say end of June), Primeval Thule Campaign Setting (6 months late, quickstart may be out "soon"), and Space: 1889 (5 months late, release "very soon")

But credit where it's due, the Hell Dorado one delivered two months early!

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."

The big problem to me is Wyrd isn't some industry noob like Poots and Dreamforge were at the start. Hell, they've done business with the guys in China for years already before they launched the kickstarter. There really is no excuse for this.

In the upcoming months we will be inserting her into a set number of crew boxes which will be marked as containing this free figure as our way of thanking you for supporting both Wyrd and your FLGS!

Through the Breach: still MIA. Last word was a tentative shipping target of June, but it's been 5 weeks since we were updated on that end, and with them moving warehouses I'm not feeling overly optimistic of those boxes getting in the mail in the next two weeks.

I gave up on it.

My feeling about them now is to !@#$$ them at this point.

If it does ever show up, I'll drop it on Feebey for a 1,000 bucks for a laugh and see if anyone bites.

Shame too. Wyrd started out a pretty good company and then quickly took a page out of GW's playbook on how to run a business.

!@#$ the fans and take there money, then move on to someone else.

I would truly love to point out all the flaws in your argument, Grot 6, but I find Wyrd is providing me with very little evidence to support a contrary position.

I think we can safely put Mike's reputation in the garbage bin next to McVey's. Take a lesson, everyone. This is not how you do a kickstarter.

Which is strange. Wyrd isn't a fledgling company. They've been in business for years. Malifaux is a well-supported, well-received game, on its second edition no less. It baffles me that they screwed this one up so badly, when they've already handled what I think are much bigger, more difficult challenges.

Guild Guard in plastic should be good, and the Mercs look very cool too.

How long does it usually take for starter set models to get a separate release? As the Wastrels in the Relic Hunters box are really cool, but I can't find them separately.

I think the Relic Hunters set has the models laid out in such a way that they can't do a separate release for the Wastrels.

I heard somewhere that the old plastic sets were getting retooled (specifically "The Thunder") so that the layout made more sense like the new plastic sprues and you could sell things such as Wastrels or Torakage seperately

That makes sense, but I'd imagine that would be a priority for Wyrd after all the metal line and the new masters get remade.

Don't want to turn this into a turd throwing contest, but what has Wyrd done that has made them look like GW? When I did buy there stuff they were a great gold standard company. They still seem to be, they provide quality minis and support, there fan base seem to be the most enthusiastic I have ever seen. I love those custom fate decks. Perhaps best PM me with info I have not heard of?

hmm , not too sure about the guild models, some of these poses seems weird. sad since the old executionner was one of my favorite model in the range.

edit: I'll never understand their decision of not showing actual models, only the renders, makes me wary of buying anything form them

I always had the opinion the renders on the box were a bad choice.

They look terrible and do not do the actual models justice, don't know if it's the shade of color or what but they don't seem to hold up to the actual model.

Perhaps a clear window to show the model? or if they can afford it (I assume they can) studio painter with the painted model on the box?

Weird thing is, the models honestly look exceptionally similar to the renders. I'm convinced the art is even based on a digitally-painted-over version of the renders themselves as well.

It's certainly a unique way of doing things, but it's not bad. With the renders, you can see most of the detail more honestly than a studio paintjob and more clean than a primed-and-inked model photo. There are plenty of people on the forums and such that'll photograph the unpainted models, and you're in no rush to order/preorder anyways.

Do we think the current delay in releases will have an impact upon these ones?

I am with Absolutionis on this I am not that bothered by the box renders, no other company matches render to finished model as closely as Wyrd. That said why they do not just show actual miniatures I have no idea.

I think I remember hearing an interview where they said that it would cause delays with packaging to have an actual model produced and then painted so it could be photographed for the boxes. The method they have now allows them to print the boxes up independently of the miniature production and thus speed up the process of getting the minis out into the wild.

I wonder if in the Lucius box he will get Guild Guard that looks like the ones we see in the wave 1 cards or look like the new artwork that has been seen. I know I will pick up a box of them when the time comes and have them match the schemes of the wave 1 cards.
