Be aware that the new freikorps plastic crew has been previewed and is available at Gencon, and will be apparently available on general release by January at the latest.

Yep, just about everything outcasts have out right now is worth taking together.
The Viktorias come with Taelor, who's a very strong beat-stick, and all-terrain Ronin. The Student of Conflict can speed up anyone. (only the viks themselves aren't compatible with Von Schill, being another master.)
Hans has strong ranged abilities, and almost always controls the flow of combat.
Bishop is very flexible, and has strong defenses in melee.
Desperate mercs are just nice cheap options with a gun.
The Strongarm is another beat stick with obvious theme, but you probably only want one option from the Strongarm/Bishop/Taelor, since they're all expensive and fulfill similar melee roles.
I'd only avoid the malifaux child insofar as it's a lot of cost for not a lot of model/points.

Just the mini rulebook (which is, what, $12?) Because your crew box is going to give you the stats for the minis in the box. If you want to read up on crews you dont have, or if you are a fan of fluff, get the full 2.0 rulebook.
Crossroads is going to contain stats / rules for the Wave 2 crews which AFAIK aren't available to buy yet.

You can buy either the BRB for $45 USD or the SRB for $15. If you just care about playing, the small rulebook is the way to go.
Some folks buy the arsenal decks, think decks for Privateer Press Factions, but they are unnecessary. Any model that's in new plastic will have the cards to use it save the old, first print plastics (If you need the official free .pdf of the cards, send me a PM, I backed them up before the Crossroads book release).
So basically to start, it's Faction Box + Add-on Box + SRB + Fate Deck (about $100 total).

Yeah, arsenal boxes are basically an upgrade cost to old players. Just make sure that the models you're buying are plastics that are available in the M2E section of the webstore - the other models will have old stat cards.

Ensure that whatever minis you're buying, it has "M2E" printed on the box cover. Otherwise, it'll come with 1stEd cards and you'll end up having to buy one of the Arsenal decks.
M2E printing:
M1E printing:
Note the existence of the M2E on the bottom right. Even all the newer boxed sets that don't have a 1stEd analogue come with the M2E symbol.

I bought some M1E plastics for 50% off. I will have to run by Kinkos and print some cards off for them, but otherwise it's worth getting the old plastics just because of the new packaging and lack of cards.

These Gencon releases look so good... why am i still torn between Neverborn and Rezzers, because I want both the Kirai and the Dreamer boxes.
Ive only just had a chance to try the game once, but all the releases plus the arsenals for the older models i like really make me wonder where to go first...
Does anyone have an idea when these will be released outside of Gencon?

Order placed. Nightmare Whiskey Golem (couldn't resist, and gives me a reason to pick up Ophelias crew which I've been longing for ever since I gave myself the 'no going out of Neverborn' restriction, screw that!) and Dreamer, hitting $110 and getting me Miss Ery. Very happy.

They seem to be hovering in the $50-100 plus S&H range. There aren't many available, but considering the prices NLCB commands (at least, every time I checked) and Santana was pulling last year, it's down right reasonable. The availability of the actual model (at Gencon and their online store) is probably tempering it somewhat, contrasted with Tara, whom has only been available for "OMGWTF?" in a Nightmare/limited edition form. Edit: Don't just look at the listed prices, check the "Completed Listings" and see what people are actually buying them for. One was bought for $200, but the other was 'best price', which from manipulating the system, seems to have been around $110, the other is under that, and the listed ones are below those as well.

I was watching both the "buy it now" prices and the concluded prices. Happily, I just won an auction for one of the Hannah's at under $50 (which was my limit). So, yay, me!

Is the "Through the Breach" Hannah exclusive a completely different model than the Hannah that's being 'early released' at Gencon, or just a variant pose?

Variant pose only. IIRC Wyrd's only LE model without a regular/non-LE mini is the Carver, but it's only for one scenario and the rules are online.

Yeah, it's just an alt pose, but I wanted to be sure cygnnus realized that he seemed to have snagged one of the pre-release standard sculpts, given that he'd specifically mentioned preferring the LE sculpt.

Depends on how long it takes to get a full release (extra value until it's released). In general though, it's not a power choice so it'll have a bit less inflated value. Once the actual model is released, it'll depend how much nicer it is than the standard sculpt (main vs original release LCB).
Nightmare Teddy for example regularly goes for the same as it sold in the Wyrd store (lots sell for more, but with patience you can pay around $50 for it). So it's tough to say.

Son of a... I'm within this close to getting myself banned by Dakka's profanity filter... I'd argue that some sellers are being deliberately deceptive in their ads, but I guess it's my fault. Okay... Seriously pissed off. Partially at Wyrd for releasing such a crappier main model, and so close after the TtB ones came out. Partially at some eBay sellers for putting up ads with "Freikorps Hannah -Very Rare!" which is at least a little deceptive... And, I guess, mostly at myself for getting a case of the stupids and not realizing the GenCon models had entered into my eBay search...
Argh! Ended up buying the *exact* figure I didn't freakin' want...
Yeah... Really not a happy camper right now...

Yeah, I noticed that too. The "very rare" thing is bullgak, but they specifically used a picture from the 'normal' release, which probably protects them on Ebay's side.
