I'll probably give it a miss (heh). So far Corvus Belli have won my hobby money this month. I'd be interested to see what the Nightmare kit is, but the only one I'd be interested in is a plastic Dead Justice, which I know won't happen for a variety of reasons. I've got no intention of running Willy, so this Miss model is wasted on me.

I'm now only curious to see any alternate models available during Gencon (I still want Francisco and Barbaros) and potentially an early release Titania.

Malifaux newbie question here. What does Nightmare Edition mean?

WarmaHordes: Menoth, Legion, Skorne, Convergence
Dropzone Commander: All 5
Infinity: Combined Army
Malifaux: Arcanists, Neverborn, Guild

They are special edition boxes of regular models. This one is an alternative to Relic Hunters, the normal McCabe box. It changes out the 3 wastrels for 2 mounted guard. They are only offered during certain times of the year, like GenCon, Black Friday, and Easter sales.

They're like alternate/more impressive versions they release for GenCon (and periodically for sales, such as Easter and Black Friday).

That Nightmare McCabe is awesome.

It's an alternate version of an existing figure/crew. They have the same rules, and are essentially "counts as" figures. So you cant use a unique and its nightmare unique version, even if they have different names. Wyrd usually puts out 1-2 a year, typically at Gen Con, and then maybe a follow up during the Black Friday sale.

I think we'll probably see a box of Nightmare wastrels to fill out McCabe's crew as another release later this year, sort of like how they did the Coryphee to go along with the circus themed Collette crew. BTW, this one is SO sold. Awesome design!

Sigh... Why is it just the limited edition Malifaux stuff that appeals to me?

Hopefully the Pound will perk up a bit before Gencon hits.

Nightmare Wastrels would be awesome! Could look at the latest Lindsay Sterling video for inspiration along with Mad Max/Wild Wild West. I'm so sold on this box and the Brutal Emissary. I may have to pick up one more thing if they do the $150/$300 special edition models again.

I've just noticed the Modeller Warning at the bottom of the box haha. Is that on all the boxes?

First time it's appeared to my knowledge. After Abuela's pipe and Yan Lo's beard, they need it. Most Gremlin boxes could probably use it too.

Thank you for the help.

Boy that Dark Carnival is an awesome looking box. Wish I would have started looking at this game when that was available.

HOLY FAKK!

Makes me a little sad I already own Relic Hunters ... but also happy I've only built McCabe + Luna from it and painted neither That's a truly delicious crew, gods damn.

They have resold the plastics in the past during other special events, so there is a chance it shows up again.

So as someone who knows relatively little of Malifaux outside of building a fair amount the new plastics, just for the frustration of it, what's the deal with some of the alternate sculpts?

The alternates are different than the nightmare editions, right?

I've had my eyes peeled for an alt Barbaros and Francisco for some time, but I"m pretty sure the boat's sailed on both those, hasn't it?

Guess I should follow this thread a bit more closely when the next sale inevitably drops...

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Alt Barbaros is in the Mystery Boxes which are given away as prize support, so soon there should be a fair amount of them around.
Not sure about alt Franc.

Alternates and Nightmare editions are functionally the same (alternate versions that counts as an existing model completely rules wise) but Nightmare editions tend to be either a whole crew in a new theme (this new McCabe set or the Dark Carnival crew), or a bigger version of something (like the Nightmare Tara crew with a bigger Nightmare Beast or the bigger Whiskey Golem with little gremlin extras).

It will likely be available again in the GenCon sale.

Sorta. They do alts (same character, different pose), "Miss" models (gender swapped models), and "Nightmare" (bigger/more elaborate/different theme usually). Functionally they are all the same character though.

Alt Barbaros and Francisco will likely be back at Gen-Con or Black Friday. They were originally a reward for buying over certain threshold, then came back as $15/20 individual purchases at the next sale. For Gen-Con, I normally just buy the nightmare model, then pick up the spend threshold models at the next sale. Something just rubs me the wrong way about having to buy $300 worth of product direct to get a freebie, when the company is already making way more off direct sales vs. what I buy at a game store.

Yep, feel the same way.

This nightmare crew's pretty cool, a few problems with it. Ultimately, I think the price will make or break it for me, though.

Price will be $90us. That was the cost of the Dark Carnival and Nightmare Tara. I'm personally not a fan. I don't know why either. They made a steampunk Mad Max crew, and I just... eh.

I think the main issue with these sorts of crew is there's no, or litle, followup. The Dark Carnival had the Nightmare Coryphee, but these crews are heavily built on visual theme. Without other models of the same visual theme to add to them, the appeal is lost.

They made a steampunk Mad Max crew, but outside of possibly a followup model on Black Friday, there's not much you can add to keep that Mad Max theme going.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but do the Gen Con sales also apply to online sales as well?

Almost got these two models on multiple occasions, but if I can hang in for a few more weeks and get it at a more reasonable price (along with other goodies I want) than I guess I can suck it up and wait!

Well, you can get them online, but only direct from Wyrd for the duration of the sale, which for Gencon is the duration of the event. You won't find their special items anywhere else online aside from ebay or trading sites after the sale is done.

That Iggy Pup looks A LOT like a metal model I bought last year, I think from Eureka Miniatures.

The more I look at The Wild Ones box, the more I'm liking it. Nightmare releases always seem to do this to me for some reason. I'll likely grab it and something else to get Miss Fire, though they will likely sit in the drawer for a long while.

Take McCabe's head and swap it out for a Death Marshal's and you've got Steampunk Ghost Rider.

Patti Ramone is likely based on this guy who attended the Burning Man festival.

Today's preview is of the 7 new master boxes. Large pictures inside the spoilers!

Spoiler:

EDIT: Nathan has confirmed that these will be available for sale at GenCon on the Wyrd forums.

I'm not going to be mean like Aaron there ... yes, all of them and a load more will be available at Gencon. For those of you asking where the list is, pricing, etc, you'll get that Wednesday in the newsletter.

There are some fantastic models in there. Phiona Gage, Corpse Candles, Banasuva, the Gorar, Iron Skeeters and the First Mate, and Ohaguro Bettari are my favourites.

That Banasuva is a pretty sweet sculpt. Hope it's nice and big to really show it off (and a million little pieces to put together to get it looking good).

Will probably pick up the Fistful of Scrip box as I seem to continue accumulating Outcasts (mostly for Shadows of Brimstone, but they'll roll up in Malifaux eventually as well).
