You can come close with one of the forgeworld Chapter Tactics which allows Assault/Vanguard to be scoring, but not as troops.
Ravenguard can with Shadow Captain Korvydae

Looks like the point about not being thrilled if my £20 codex purchase was invalidated within 2 years with a new book seems to have been missed. A lot of people would be rightly quite annoyed if they were asked to buy a new codex so quickly just because Space Marines got some new toys in theirs. If you want to use them so badly just house rule it / ask your opponent, outside of tourneys you're probably fine.

OMG people still complaining about 20 bucks pounds or what ever?
If you don't want to pay it, then don't, but don't complain about it when somebody else does. It just makes you look like a cheapskate.
How much does it cost to go see a movie for 2 hours? How much does a person spend at a bar for a nite? How about a dinner nite out? These are all one time purchases that cost way way more than you will be buying a digitial codex that will be used many many times.
So is really $5 or $10 per hour or per game really that bad of a purchase?
I just laugh when people complain about pennies when they usually (I say usually since there are real frugal people out there) that piss away hundreds of dollars.

If that's the case, then they can't have incorporated all the stuff from the FAQ document, as that is on page 2 - of course, this assumes that Puscifer's assertion is accurste.

And if you can't be bothered to tell a difference in currencies that amounts to over around a 60% difference then you might not be the best person to comment on price issues as it makes you look callous and/or ignorant of the topic at hand. Discussion on the price of a wargaming offering is a completely valid and important topic to most gamers. The entry level price of everything GW is increasing disproportionately to average income. If you want people to play against in 10 years, it's an issue of concern as the wargaming hobby is being squeezed by electronic gaming in ways that it wasn't back in the 80's and 90's.

Davor: The price is irrelevant - if you buy something thinking it's going to last X years, and it lasts half that time because they re-release it digitally with a load of new content, you've been screwed. SO, I'm glad they haven't added a load of units to the digital release, and I'm not sympathetic just because some folks think blood angels are "missing out" on assault centurions. But hey, being told you're cheap is always fun. Hey where did all these limited edition books and forge world models come from? I can't possibly have bought them because I'm a cheapskate. *edit* I've re-read your post... I'm not even convinced you're sober... I didn't actually complain about the price of anything, I said I wouldn't want to have to buy it *again*. Your weird cost/benefit analysis is totally misplaced, because do I think a £20 codex is worth it? Yes, absolutely, I buy them. Do I think releasing it again, in digital form, a couple of years later and adding new content is fair? No, I think it screws the people who bought it in print. It's the right policy not to do that, and I'm glad GW aren't.

If you want to take the new toys, take bloody allies.
And the poster who mentioned codex marines not getting fast tanks, death company, deep striking land raiders or vampire lords is correct, just as codex marines don't get giant wolf cav or deathwing.
There is little worse in 40k than listening to one set of marine players all getting distressed about another set getting something they don't have, they all want their own special effects and powers but with everyone else's toys as well. You can take whatever the other marine chapter has by using the allies chart.

I think GW has missed a trick here, if they made a few alterations to points to bring them to the same level as C:SM and DA, added warlord traits, and allowed something like Centurions/ Stormtalons to be taken, they would be shifting tonnes of kits to existing BA players, and new ones with minumal effort.
At the same time, BA players get a more relevant and competative dex, so everyone is a winner!
Silly GW and i thought you loved money!

As much as I would have liked that, there was no chance it would happen, so it's not a missed opportunity. IF they had done that, there would have been zero incentive to purchase the physical version and they would have lost sales, and there's no chance they would have updated the original, turned it HC and reprinted it. That wont happen unless they redo the codex and that's a long way off.

YES! Let them eat cake, I SAY! GW has never overcharged for anything ever! Compared to all of the other things people who have hundreds of disposable dollars do, Warhammer is cheap. If you aren't rich, then you have no right to be interested in something as mind-fething cool as warhammer. You poor piece of gak. Go be poor somewhere else!
You're an ass.

The reason I posted this new thread at the release of the Blood Angel Digital Codex, was to gain insight as to whether or not it was a redo as it were, or if it had been modified incorporating the newest SM toys or not.
I know there are allies but I like red! IT IS MY FAVORITE COLOR!! Sorry, Infantry flashback...
I don't run all the fancy/crazy looking winged BA's or the vamperic looking models, my BA are more generic so I'll just run them with all the shiny kit, until I play a tournament then I'll just change my list.
Thanks Moop for staying true to the thread and answering with flare!
I like a good debate so have at it.

You know GW... stick new art on this slightly updated rules set and after a couple of months as digital only, release a harback, and obligatory secial edition dust cover hardback. I think fans would totally go for it, and it keeps space marines relevant as big sellers at christmas!

I was going by the ammount of threads about BA being totally useless i see on this forum, there are fewer such threads about DA.

Bull0: "It would suck if your £20 codex purchase was made obsolete too soon by a digital rerelease" Dudebro: "I can't believe you're complaining about the price!" Bull0: "Hmm... I'm not. The price isn't relevant" HBMC: "...the price is always relevant." *puts on sunglasses* Yeah, except it's totally not. My point wasn't about the fething price. It's literally irrelevant. "I don't think you know what literally means."

Davor wrote:I would be surprised if they didn't put it in. I mean AS got them. I guess this is not a new thing then and AS was something different.
The Digital Editons facebook people actually explained this. Basically, the BA have a book, so updates would have invalidated the one that's being sold in GW stores "before its time". The AS, however, didn't currently have a codex on sale that a digital release could invalidate. Therefore, they had a lot more freedom with the AS book.
Anyway, I'd just regard this as an optional convinience and nothing more. Do you want the BA codex with the FAQ intergrated on a tablet? Great, you can go for it. If not, just keep using your codex. No big deal.
